Storm Shelter at Eastport

Stopped in for a quick bite. The waitress was quick to get our order and food came quickly. I don't like fancy restaurants and this is an average Joe's kind of place. Water side was a plus.

The Storm Shelter is situated on the Illinois River. The views are fantastic. The outdoor sitting/eating area is so nice. We had a great meal, fantastic service and will definitely go back.
I had the filet mignon quesadilla . Excellent!

Service was terrible. Two men who came in after our table and was greeted with menus and their drinks before we even had our order taken. I myself had to go into the bar to get my own drinks. Food was terrible. My boyfriend’s “ribeye” was not cooked medium rare. My tenderloin wasn’t cooked all the way either considering I was up in the morning puking up my dinner. No citronella candles or anything to stop bugs from getting to you. Considering this is on the river that was a mistake. Also they had what looked like a 70 year old woman walking around doing nothing/running food? Not sure what that’s about but she was terrible. My server was terrible. The only person in that building that knows that they are doing is Ashley in the bar. To which we would have sat there but my niece is only 15 years old and isn’t legally allowed to sit at the bar. I will be calling and asking for a refund because the atmosphere, service and food were all a -10/10. Do not I repeat do no go here. And to the owner. CHANGE YOUR GREASE. Grease can have bacteria in it if not changed enough. Your restaurant should be a 10/10 cause of its location yet your reputation is a 0/10. DO NOT EAT HERE. I REPEAT DO NOT**** EAT HERE.

Food was decent, would have been better if it had been hot. Service was friendly, but SLOW. They need a hostess bad! No organization among the staff. No one knew who was serving who, when new folks arrived they waited forever to be served. Was told it was seat yourself by one staffer, but then others were trying to assign tables. 15 minutes to be greeted, Food served lukewarm (obviously was ready a while), then 15 minutes to get the bill.

Takes a little while to get food but you can enjoy the river view! Our regular waitress Lindsey is awesome!!! We always get the Maui fish tacos!

The drinks we got were great but we ordered food at around 5:15 and watched as every table around us got food before we did. We only got two entrees for 4 people. We did not get our food until after 6pm. They said they didn’t have a food runner and I can understand to a degree but when the food finally came it was lukewarm. It wasn’t worth it in the long run. Our server was great and did check on us multiple times and apologize. May be back for drinks but that’s it.

Not sure why it took so long to try this place, but it's a great find! You can't beat the view on a warm day sitting outside. Service was outstanding and the food is a perfect blend of what you want combined with nice twists that you don't expect. For example, the Filet Mignon Quesadilla. Took the risk and it was amazing. Just had the Cyclone Melt whichh was recently added and it's also great. And the B Marys are great. Highly recommended for better than expected 'bar' food.
