They helped my homeboy out with some cross contamination free food, very friendly place
Great place offering a surprisingly wide array of food. The variety of Schnitzel options was a treat.
Prices are on par with the area, so higher than not. Still, the food was good and the antique decor was delightful.

Was looking for a place for Ice cream for the granddaughter. I found this cute ice cream cafe and wine.
Great bite to eat for lunch!
We absolutely loved our experience at Al's! Staff was super friendly and the food was great! The chocolate malt was to die for!

Stained class and reclaimed church pews, delicious seasonal menu options, fun staff, and boozy milk shakes! Did I mention the sangria?

Horrible service and meal. Reuben was the worst ever consumed. Thinly sliced corned beef which lacked flavor and dry. The entire sandwich lacked flavor. Fries room temperature. Our server never returned to our table to check if everything was okay. An hour later returned with the check. Not returning and decided not to get a malt to go- worried they may take shortcuts on the original recipe.
Wonderful night out with our family at Al's Cafe. Enjoyed their Oktoberfest food, and the famous Burns Malts! Yummy!!

Best European cuisine. Must have is schnitzel. Also their shake is the best around Chicago area. Another favorite is their monthly specials. One of the best is Swedish meat balls.

I will never come back to this place. I walk in and the first thing from the host we are full also with her hands gesturing sign language. Never felt uncomfortable like that anywhere maybe it was my skin color.

Al's is an under-rated restaurant in Elgin. Though they have typical American cafe foods, the chef's speciality is Northern European. Be sure to come in the evening for Regional European specialties, that change on a monthly basis - German, French an Scandinavia dishes!

My wife and I had an East Side Beef. It was a good sandwich. We of course shared an Al's chocolate Malt to finish the meal. You can't go to Al's without having a malt. They're to die for.

Very disappointed and definitely won't be back. Over $13 for the thinnest, smallest, BLT I've ever seen. The bacon looked like those tiny microwavable pieces too. Not worth the money.
The peanut butter shake was delicious!
