Burnt Toast Restaurant Elgin

This restaurant was by far the best spot on our trip. The food was great, service was friendly and fast, and the prices were in line with the quality. Highly recommend.

I like Burnt Toast better then Buttered.
The atmosphere is more inviting, compared to the stark white interior of Buttered Toast. We will go further for that.

Food was competitive with other breakfast spots. Sweet potato skillet was pretty good. Service took a bit to get us going. Busboys kept it moving. Tell them not to drop silverware in bus tub. Loud as hell. But they were quick. Everyone seemed organized and hard working.

It’s almost a weekly gathering for our family. We love this place. My kids love it . Staff is super friendly food is delicious.

Writing this for family friends: Just wanted to share that this place is not so great, last week we had quite an experience. Tried to wave down a different server for something we needed and were ignored shortly after our server along with the other ignorant one began arguing like cats in front of customers and the manager did not move or do anything. Looks like she’s just there to chat on her phone or be present for nothing. Don’t waste your money on this establishment anymore.

We make a roadtrip twice a year. For at least 15 years we visit Burnt Toast in Elgin, IL for breakfast on our way from MN to CT.

I’m writing this review because I’m truly disappointed. This restaurant was recommended to us by a family friend, and while the food is okay, it does not justify the prices. We have visited this establishment approximately 5–8 times over the past six months.

During our most recent visit, the service was extremely poor and disrespectful. We waited nearly an hour before our server even took our order. We also had to repeatedly look for her just to get refills on coffee. When our food finally arrived, it was cold.

I attempted multiple times to get our server’s attention with no success. Eventually, I asked a hostess to let her know we needed assistance. The hostess relayed the message, and our server looked at our table, walked into the kitchen area, and continued serving other tables without ever coming to us. The only way I was finally able to speak with her was by getting up and approaching her myself.

At that point, the experience was already ruined. Unfortunately, this visit showed a complete lack of care for customers. We will not be returning, and I would not recommend this restaurant. Save your time and money — this establishment does not value its customers.

It was super busy. We arrived just before noon and was told it would be a half an hour wait. We found a place to sit in the waiting are and they called our name in about five minutes. (Did they want us to leave? Why did they tell us it would be a half an hour wait?). I ordered the cheese and spinach omelette. The food came within just a minute or two, but the cheese was hard and cold. Just terrible. I did order a side order of pancakes and they were hot and fluffy and delicious. I would probably find a different place for breakfast.

I’ve dined about twice now, not coming back food is overpriced and they don’t stick to a certain portion sometimes they give you less. Manager seems rude saw her yelling at the employees once (yikes). Like i’ve seen another say the only saving grace are the servers!

In the past two months, I've been to Burn and Toast, and the food has been terrible. I have no idea if it's the staff not paying attention or the cook. The quality of the food is mediocre, and when one of my friends asked to speak to the manager, the manager was very rude and dismissive. The service was also terrible. I absolutely do not recommend this place.
