I had not been to Delicia Tropical in over 2 years because of the distance from me, it's an hour drive. My Mother wanted to treat me for my birthday and because she had a taste for pernil. I had a steak jibarito with red beans & rice. I'm sorry to say we were both disappointed. The steak had a weird taste, both steak and pernil were bland. I had an alcapurria de yuca and mom had a regular one, we were both were disappointed, filling was bland and the yuca was hard with a bad taste. Bottom line, the only good things were the rice & beans, the tripleta sandwich and cuajito my husband had and jugo de parcha (passion fruit juice) was excellent. Our total bill was $77 without tip. The service we received from the waitress was very good, young sweet friendly girl from Honduras. The woman who is always at the register could use a few pointers from her, she should smile and greet the customers in a friendly manner. Unfortunately, I don't plan on ever going back.

The food was okay. Until I saw the waitress that was taking care of our table eating and sucking her fingers and not once did I see her wash her hands. She continued handling customers coming in and handling the menus and napkins and utensils with her sucked on fingers. Totally disgusted after seeing that and the older lady was doing the same.

When I am looking for mofongo and don't want to make it myself this is where I go. It is delicious. Their jibaritos are great too! Give them a try.

The Puerto Rican Rice and Lechon was well seasoned and full of flavor. The food was served nice and hot fresh out of the kitchen. Great job!

The food here was delicious! The mofongo and pernil were particularly good. The staff was courteous and friendly. It is a small, casual place, next to the gas station, and parking can be a bit tricky, but I look forward to going back.

We used to drive out here years ago for the Puerto Rican food as there aren't many options out here in the burbs. We were so excited to be in Elgin and get it again. But, the food wasn't as good as we remembered. The arroz con gandules was not flavorful. My husband's steak sandwich had miracle whip vs mayo which he said changed the taste. I ordered pernil and they gave me bland chicken...I had to sprinkle adobo on it when I got home. The saving grace was the alcapurrias... delicious. The price was fair. Maybe we just had an off day so might try again.

Enjoyed our Jibarritos and Puerto Rican rice. Kids had chicken soup (delicious). Coffee was tasty and our mugs were always full, thanks to super friendly and attentive service. Comfortable booth seating next to a window with plenty of light. Got to try some soda flavors we've never had before. Thanks for putting up with our loud kids and the mess they made. Can't wait to be back.

We were driving through the area and wanted to give this place a try. It tasted like an authentic Jibarito and the tostones were good. I would definitely come back for more.
