I wish I had taken pictures!! Stopped in after MANY years.. possibly over a decade of not having El Faro food. I used to frequently go to the location off 20 when I lived in Elgin and then the Dundee location when I lived in Carpentersville. Still great service. Food was delicious and VERY filling. All fresh ingredients. Staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant was clean and organized. There was a small band playing when I got there but left soon after I arrived. There is a good amount of parking in front of the restaurant but you can also park on the street on the blocks surrounding the restaurant. Also, never noticed the ice cream shop next door! I will bring my teenager next time.

Today I went to eat at this place and the truth is I was very, very disappointed with the food. I was disgusting. I ordered enchiladas or Enmoladas and a coffee and the truth is everything was super bad, terrible. I didn't eat the food after the second bite. I left everything. The truth is, the Arros seemed I paste the super dry beans and the enmoladas you tasted ugly ugly the truth is I think they gave me the leftovers from the day before or I don't know but that was terrible I even felt disgusted and vomited in my house I'm just telling you When you see your food like this, take a video and expose it to the Aver restaurant if they apply themselves to giving a good debut and farewell meal, thank you

This was the worst customer service ever they served us old meat. It had a bad smell and they refused to do a refund after we threw it in the garbage. There was no way I was going to dig in the garbage again just to drive 30 minutes to do a refund poor customer service ever and then on top of that they even told us we can do a refund and bring the burrito back 3 to 4 days, who does that?

Took my kids to lunch at El Faro the other day, and it is still outstanding. We got a pastor burrito, and a steak burrito. Food came out hot and fast despite restaurant being really busy with a bunch of take out orders as it was lunch time. The burritos were huge. More than enough for myself and two teenagers. The flavor of both was amazing, but for me, the pastor was the best. I highly recommend if you are in the area and looking for great Mexican food.
