Great Wall Chinese Restaurant

During my initial visit to this establishment, I found the food to be served hot and freshly prepared, and the staff demonstrated exceptional friendliness.

I ordered 3 lunch specials here. I came to pick them up, and the young guy at the counter had the personality of an annoyed kid who was home from college and didn't want to be having to work in his parents' restaurant. He seemed VERY 'put out' by just collecting my money! But THAT isn't even the reason for my review... I would have just blown that off... The reason for my review is that I ordered chicken lo mein, and there was NO CHICKEN in it! None! But what WAS in it were - as my photos show - just a bunch of chicken SKINS!! Disgusting. So I'm guessing that I was being served the BYPRODUCT of something else on the menu and not what I paid for! WHO does that??
I don't normally post smack about anybody's business, but THAT was beyond the pale!
And to boot, the other 2 people in the order didn't like their food, either.
SMH...

Got my order wrong or they just make chow mein different

It’s the last time I would ever order something from this place. The crab meat Rangoon smelled and tasted rancid. The fried dumplings were half cooked, tasteless, greasy, and slimy. It’s the first time I have thrown away food at the first bite. I should’ve guessed the quality of the food was going to be as bad as the service since I got my card thrown across the counter rather than being handed it back to me. No thanks!

When I got there, the table's were a mess with garbage on it. At that point I'm regretting ordering from here. The kid behind the register just on his phone instead of greeting and cleaning. FOOD WISE.... I got beef and veggie lo mein. It was okay. Also order crab ragoon, OMG just go get a tub of cream cheese! Oh usually I get a triangle big 6 pieces... My surprise for $8 bite size and taste like old oil. After eating a baby bite size ragoon I was stomach sick. Also order sesame chicken, smh OVERLY cooked chicken. I mean hard to chew and tasted old! READ THE REVIEWS BEFORE YOU GET ANYTHING FROM THIS PLACE! DEFINITELY WONT BUY HERE AGAIN!

I ordered delivery through Uber and my driver informed me that the restaurant dropped my food on the floor and put it back into the container before trying to give it to him to deliver. He said they dropped my food on the floor not once, but TWICE in a row and threw it back in there

After arguing with them he said it went nowhere. So he just delivered it and let me know. Definitely never coming back. Makes me sick to think I've ordered from this dump.

We ordered orange chicken and it had a green maggot🤢 my wife told me to pick up the food and it was a total of 62.00 but the cashier said it was 70.50 and she didn't give me a receipt. Hopefully our kiddos don't get the stomach bug we noticed early enough but everyone had bites of the food. Now we are throwing 70+ dollars in the trash.

I tried the Great wall for the first time a couple weeks ago. There food was Amazing !!! There portions were huge. I had.... Pork chop suey. It was delicious. Will be going there again very soon, like tonight!!!! You won't be disappointed.

I ordered chicken noodle soup, steamed dumplings, and chicken lo mein.
The chicken noodle soup came in a dark brown broth that basically tasted like hot water with soy sauce in it. I ended up throwing it out because it tasted terrible.
The chicken lo mein was edible but not very good. The chicken was spongy and overall the lo mein didn’t have a very good flavor.
The steamed dumplings were mostly what seems to be chopped cabbage and onion, which I don’t hate. I just expected the steamed dumplings to be stuffed with minced pork or chicken.

I would not order again from this restaurant.

The worst Chinese food in elgin. I been here my whole life and everytime I go back here to get my veggie fried rice it taste like it's fresh out the microwave. And the lady who answers the phone is rude and act slow. 🙄 go to the Chinese restaurant by the casino not these guys 👎🏾

Plus they didn't even give me the usual soy sauce and sweet n sour sauce and fortune cookie
