look at this cake!!!! They thru this cake together… the colors didn’t match. The picture was super small and they told me one price over the phone and then when I got there they tried to charge me more … the skinny Spanish lady is extremely rude and they wouldn’t give me the cake for the price they told me
Over the phone. I only still took the cake because it was for my son party and it was 2 last min to go get another cake from somewhere else . I would never shop there again and the cake was nasty itself

Very disappointed came in friday morning to get donuts and sweet rolls and they were old and dry...i was embarrassed because i brought them to work as a treat. Never had any issues in the past...very disappointed

Not your Herb's Bakery. They used to be the best, now they can't even make a glazed donut right. The chocolate icing tastes so bad, for the first time in my life threw out a donut.

I heard that there were new owners and wanted to give them a try. At first, I pre-ordered a cake for my husband's deployment/farewell ceremony because they were able to put edible photos on the cake. Right after the order, I bought empanadas to eat at home because they looked so soft and delicious. However, when I ate them at home, they were stale. I have heard that the new owners worked for the previous owners, so they must know how to bake well and just need time adjusting to business. I went back to give them another try and purchased the same empanadas. They were much better and fresh. I told them about my previous bad experience so that they were aware of it, moving forward. I, too, moved forward with them in baking my cake. It was a small carrot cake in the middle and vanilla & chocolate cupcakes surrounding it, and photos on top with Army green coloring for the frosting. In the end, the cake turned out fantastically designed, and DELICIOUS! Photo of the cake posted (blurred some parts). I received many compliments on the cake, especially the taste of the carrot cake. I gave 4 stars because of the first bad experience.

Partially my fault to expect something similar to what was being shown in the add picture and I did try canceling the order seconds after placing it but I was not allowed to do so. This was a too good to go order and pic illustrating the the add and what I got from them. I love artesian bread and will definitely NOT eat what I got. I ended up returning it and didn't make a scene or anything I just refused to take it.

Custom cakes are delicious

The cake was absolutely delicious! We ordered for our wedding, just a small cake for us to cute with additional desserts for all. The cake had a fresh fruit inside that you could tell was actually fresh. Price seemed fair and delivery went smoothly, as far as we know but didn’t hear anything so sure it went great!

Wow I hear this is the owner who tanked and sold the mexican bakery on chicago and now all these reviews mimick the previous business. Stay away....the new owners on the Chicago street bakery no longer sell old pastries....check out the below review of the customer taking pictures of mold on the cake. Health dept. should shut this place down

Went in to buy some thumbprint cookies for our Christmas party. It had been awhile since I had been to Herbs. I was a bit shocked to be told the new price of a two pounds box was $36, but bought them anyway because nostalgia. NOPE! They were nasty. They were so overly disgustingly sweet. The sprinkles were hard as rocks and the actual cookie was just not the same. Three quarters of a full box ended up in the trash at the end of the day because nobody wanted them. Sad, but I won't make that mistake again....

Friendly service but the donuts were stale and some were actually hard- definitely wouldn’t recommend this place

Herbs has long been known as the best around. The people who own it now sale stale, more than day old goods. I bought danishes that were so stale they were not edible. You could tell they were not fresh by far. It is sad what they are doing to what used to be such a great establishment.

I used to go here a lot when I was kid. It’s under new ownership now, but still has the some of the same cookies and pastries that I remember from my youth.
