Verns speakeasy was the perfect venue for our networking karaoke event. It was a great size and was private but not cut off from all the fun happening at the bar and main area.

Great neighborhood bar! This is a perfect spot to grab a drink with a friend or another couple. Not a huge place, nice vibe but not too loud to have a conversation. The drinks were good and not crazy expensive. Would like to go back if they ever have drink specials, too.

On the outside, this bar looks very much like a dive bar, DO NOT PASS IT UP. Went there because another place was closed and decided to go in. Let me tell you this place is absolutely awesome. Beautiful inside, great service, fantastic drink, and food to die for. Will definitely be visiting this place again.

We were there for a drag show. The drinks were perfect. The staff was very friendly. The music was a little too loud to talk to each other before and between the performances. The food was catered and just okay at best.

Fantastic local watering hole. We haven't yet eaten here but understand the food is good. At the bar on a slow Monday night we got fantastic service from the bartender. Really good cocktails. The "classic cocktails" list is extensive and they're crafted to order; no pre-mix here.

You know when you just walk into a place and can immediately feel the good energy that it emits? Well, that’s what Vern’s is like. Honestly I’ve never been to another bar like it. Delicious craft cocktails, awesome and accommodating staff, and overall just a great place to be at. This place is a gem in Elgin. Highly recommend!

Great drinks, fun atmosphere (for the most part), and a nice amount of space, but the service exceptionally lacked. The bartender Dane, was exceptionally rude to me for no reason and made several passive aggressive remarks and gestures. It’s not fun when you feel like you’re walking on eggshells just to receive a drink. When I ordered one of their gin cocktails that had mint sprigs in it (the curtain jerkers), Dane proceeded to hand me the whole mint sprig and be incredibly passive aggressive about it when I simply and kindly asked for mint sprigs. This was a $14 cocktail. His demeanor was very aggressive and childish throughout the night. Overall, it’s a decent place for karaoke, but it won’t be worth your trip when you’re being served by angry minions. You’ll find the bare minimum of customer service standards elsewhere. I will not return.

This is a great bar downtown Elgin. It's bigger than it looks from the outside. There is also a private event room in the back that I've been to. The layout is nice and the times I've been there's a bit of a crowd. Seating is plentiful, staff is friendly and food is good. Great drink prices as well. Highly recommend trying Vern's out.
