I’ve eaten from here for years. But the service has declined. Whenever I order food to go THEY ALWAYS GET MY ORDER WRONG GIVING ME THE WRONG FOOD. This is not the first time this has happened. This is a regular occurrence. At this point fire everyone the manager, the staff, the janitor. How can a business be so incompetent. The food is good though.

This is one of my favorite places to bring our office's out of town guests for lunch. Handmade to order, their Gorditas are delicious and authentic. They taste a lot like the gorditas I had on the side of the road while traveling through Durango, MX. They have over a dozen gordita filling options to choose from. My favorites are the calabaza and the poblanos y queso which both happen to be vegetarian. I'm not a vegetarian but these are so delicious I go for them almost every time. They have a burrito that's super spicy too, if you're up for the challenge. And believe me, it's a challenge to your heat tolerance!!

The menudo was NOT good do not come here for menudo. The only good thing here is the Gorditas from this place.

Delicious food. Their hot sauces taste so good and they are very spicy. The meat and the gorditas and Tacos is tender juicy and flavorful

It’s a shame because I actually enjoyed the food here., the Gorditas were delicious but make sure to double check what you’re getting charged if you’re eating here AND REMEMBER THE PRICES because they don’t list any of the stuff you order on the receipt, just the total & now I believe that’s on purpose. The staff was 50/50 there was some really helpful people like the young man who helped my mom get a refund back on her card & and some who weren’t. apparently a “different waitress” than the one who was actually serving us rang up our order. They tried to charge my mom almost $21 DOLLARS EXTRA ! Makes no sense but whatever. Overall the principal is I felt like we were taken advantage of, they didn’t think we’d check. people work hard for their money and we shouldn’t have been taken advantage of like this, shame on you guys, so scummy & aggravating because the food was so tasty :( .

The Menudo is disgusting
Without flavour, it often seems that the strainer either broke down or didn't have any, the broth is full of skins, whoever enjoys a Menudo like this.
And super slow to place an order.

The food is great , but the waiting is for ever to dine inn, be prepared to wait about 30 to 40 minutes before they take your order.

The reviews are very true, the service is absolutely terrible. It was only the two of us, with tables open. My husband and I wanted to try this restaurant out and sat for 15 minutes and not a single person acknowledged us. Not even a drink order. It was busy but there were waitresses standing around talking. We ended up walking out.

Las Gorditas De Don Angel is a hidden gem in Elgin, offering some of the best authentic Mexican food around. The gorditas are freshly made, generously filled, and bursting with flavor. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, perfect for a quick bite or a relaxed meal with friends. The staff is friendly and the service is prompt. If you’re a fan of Mexican cuisine, this place should be at the top of your list.

Food was good! Small portion gorditas so make you order plenty. They have a nice variety mix so try them all. We paid close to $36.00 for about 6 gorditas and 2 tacos. Tacos are very small and I was not a big of them, nonetheless my kids seem to have enjoyed them. Plenty of parking and clean spot to grab a quick bite.

If they tell you that they are going to be late. On the menu it clearly says: "BE PATIENT, THE GORDITAS ARE MADE AT THE MOMENT." But half an hour for 3 fatties is already a lot.
