Do not be fooled that this hidden gem is located at a gas station! A group of us were randomly in the area and used google to look for a place to eat when we found Mr. Cesar’s restaurant. The food was some of the best Mexican food I’ve had! Mr. Cesar was super friendly even though we came in with a large group when they were near closing. We came back a second time on the way back from Rockford because I was craving it. The tacos (I love the chicharron tacos), the pozole and the mole chicken were some of the best I’ve had. We’re far up north and don’t live near, but will make it everytime we have to go out to Rockford (for sports cards shows). Thanks Mr. Cesar and your chefs for making such great food and to you for being so hardworking and hospitable. See you soon!

At first glance you might miss this hidden gem. But don’t be fooled this isn’t just a gas station. This restaurant is legit and serious! You can’t compare this restaurant to any in the area. The menu offers multiple items not typical of ordinary Mexican restaurants and delivers top quality authentic flavors. Ordered the shrimp tacos and was pleasantly surprised.. it was so good I had to go back the next day. It was so good I had to tell my wife. It was so good I had to take her to said location the next day and she concurred.. now we might go back again today and order the same exact thing again. They’re addicting ! Ohh and the gas station next door is openly accessible and sells alcohol so I’m guessing it’s a byob restaurant like in Chicago so that’s pretty cool too if true.. extremely highly recommended

This is by FAR the best Mexican food in the area. The owner is always there and so friendly. The food is incredible. I highly recommend getting a whole or half chicken if you are looking for a family meal. The tacos are delicious and the meat is always well seasoned. My husband loves the chicharron and the cabeza tacos; I tend to lean towards the steak and the shrimp tacos. There’s really not a single thing on the menu we haven’t liked. It’s a small space but it’s a hidden gem. Don’t miss out on Mr. Cesar’s!

Seriously one of the best Mexican food places around. It's been here for a while now and I finally stopped in and im so happy I did. The owner is wonderful,very attentive and kind. I'm a vip haha (per owner) lol. Don't hesitate,go get you some of the best tacos ,burritos ,etc. You won't be disappointed. Let em know his vip sent you and recommend everyone you know please. Let's get them more business as the location kinda sucks. Oh and the prices won't hurt your pocket either.

Love the flavors we ate at Mr. Cesar's. The al pastor burrito was the winner dish- good value and delicious. My kid and I split an enchilada dinner and although it was all fresh and tasty, I would have liked slightly bigger portions of rice and beans. Kind of skimped out on those. The place is in a gas station, and the restaurant was very clean, but you can only get so much atmosphere in a gas station. Would definitely recommend take out and I'm getting that burrito next time!

I was very skeptical about this place as there aren’t very many decent Mexican restaurants in Elgin, however Mr. Cesar’s did not disappoint! From the tacos to the enchilada dinner was delicious and the portion sizes do not disappoint!! I highly recommend for tasty authentic Mexican food.
