Silver Lake Chinese Restaurant

I ordered shrimp fried rice and one other thing from here and I got sick and started to vomit after I had the food. I don't think the rice was fresh and they gave bad rice. I am still sick and I am not going to order from them again.

Atrocious. As an Asian and lifelong lover of Chinese food, and as a once-frequent (now former) customer of Silver Lake, I experienced an absolute failure of service.

I placed a takeout order, only to discover when I arrived that it had been prepared incorrectly. When I called to explain, the manager Kevin insisted the mistake was mine and hesitated to correct it. After driving back to have it fixed, I was met with a cold reception, handed my dish without apology, and left with no acknowledgment of the inconvenience.

From what I was told, Kevin reports to Jason and Florence (the actual owners, who were on vacation). Still, I can’t imagine this is the standard of service they would condone. For a customer who has supported this restaurant for years, this was a disappointing and dismissive experience. Silver Lake has lost someone who was once a loyal regular.

I ate here 15 years ago and had food poisoning. Gave it another chance because I figured it was just a one time incident, and again, had food poisoning…

15 years later I decided to try the food again, and once again, I had food poisoning.

From reading the bad reviews it seems to me that this place is cooking with rotten food and is unsanitary.

Last week 6.19.25 our nurse practitioner ordered food to be delivered. As she opened her food there was larva in it. I have pictures for proof, when she contacted them they took zero accountability and verbalized she can call Uber. Instead of looking at there food they would much rather serve customers that! I'll be making a call to the health inspector because this is grotesque.

It's really hard to rate Chinese places, because everyone has their goto spot, but this has been ours since forever. The one in St. Charles shut down some time ago but this one is still going strong and has some of our favorites! The egg rolls have an essence of peanut in them that is so deliciously enticing. Love the egg drop soup and crab rangoon too. I'm usually either getting Empress Chicken, General Tsao's chicken or Mongolian beef

The food was pretty good, and the egg rolls were exceptionally well. Would definitely recommend coming for lunch when it's less busy. Decor was quite good, too. The tables were well cleaned. The wait staff is quick to take orders, keep drinks full, and remove empty plates in a timely fashion. Overall experience definitely deserves five stars
