I've been going to Walnut for several years with coworkers for lunch and/or happy hour. There was a period where we went there once a month for lunch because their wings were really good and prices were on par for a lunch outing.

Recently, a new bartender start working during the lunch shift who is not always attentive, even while taking our order. She is friendly, but seems always distracted. We waited for a few minutes before she came to place our orders and she recognized that we needed to get in and out for our lunch break. We ordered soups with our meals, but we watched as the bartender spent several minutes chatting with another patron. Our food showed up in the window and didn't sit for too long before she brought it to us, but then she realized she forgot our soups and went to get them. She brought 2 out and had to go back for the 3rd because she forgot all 3 of us ordered soup. After getting through my soup that I didn't even really want anymore, I went for my burger and discovered that it was missing the bacon I asked for. I made note of it with the bartender, since I knew there was an extra charge for the bacon. She offered to get me some, but I asked to just take it off the order. She spent what felt like too much time at the POS before saying she would simply not charge for my drink, rather than remove the bacon. Whatever...but why was it so hard to remove the bacon that she couldn't do it? Then we sat after finishing our meals for several minutes, trying to get her attention but failing to do so as she socialized with the rest of the bar. We finally got her attention and she took care of our checks, which definitely were more than we'd ever spent there before.

I hate to leave any negative comments on a place that I have frequented for a long time, but man, between the new bartender and the increase in cost, we may not go back, if not for a long time, possibly ever. We each spent over $30 for lunch when it used to be $20-25 including tip just a few months ago. It's one thing for costs to go up. It's another for service to lack. Worse yet, you have mistakes being made from lack of attentiveness. But you put all of those together and you make for a combo that will turn customers away.

I don't ever want anyone to lost their job, but that new(er) day shift bartender needs some better training perhaps, or maybe a bit of management in terms of keeping in check with the socialization being more important than the service.

Great food and service. Sometimes a bit overcrowded but works if your in the mood for it. Early in the week is best for when you just want a quiet meal or drink out.

Where to begin? I ordered a 10 piece order of chicken wings ( lemon pepper with a side of buffalo 🤤) truly amazing. Also tried their pizza ( Sausage and Pepperoni) and it was cooked to perfection. Definitely recommend this place for dinner or any occasion!

Great place to actually eat and have a conversation!
Waitstaff was attentive and considerate, food was tasty and menu offered a nice variety without being overwhelming. Off street parking. Clean.
Comfortable. It’s not often I call a restaurant that, but it truly was. I’d be back often if I lived in the area! Did I say excellent staff? Well, there, I said it again. (No, I don’t know any of them.)

Had a juicy 1/2 lb Bacon, Cheddar & Mushroom Burger. It was really good. The open wood bar & Stevie Ray Vaughn playing in the background added to the experience.

The chili has great potential. The flavor is there, but someone must’ve dumped almost a bucket of salt in it tonight. Almost inedible bc of the saltiness. So disappointed.

I had the best hamburger of my entire life and their salads are out of this world. I’ve eaten in the restaurant and I’ve utilized DoorDash. Also they’re onion rings are to die for.

I just ordered Chicken Alfredo off of DoorDash… when I opened the container it smelled and tasted sour/spoiled!!! It’s crazy how there’s a review on here complaining about the same pasta. The fried pickles were too crispy (enough to chip a tooth!) and salty, I’ve had fried pickles at many other places but these were just terrible quality. To top it off, I didn’t receive any utensils. Anybody who claims this place is ā€œgoodā€ has low standards.
