We’ve been coming here at least once a month for over a year, and it’s hands down one of our favorite places. The menu has tons of options, and somehow they manage to perfect every dish. The food is always fresh, flavorful, and honestly some of the best we’ve had !! you can really taste the quality in every bite. The staff is incredibly friendly, and the location is perfect. Everything about this place is amazing!!!!!!

I LOVE panang curry and this is the first place I've found outside of downtown Chicago that hit the spot. Fantastic place! Just wish they were open early in the week.

A hidden gem! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and inviting. The dishes were beautifully presented and bursting with flavor—each bite better than the last. Service was attentive without being intrusive, and the staff genuinely made us feel welcome. Perfect spot for a date night or a casual meal with friends. Highly recommend!”

The food was really good, there was a good mix of Thai and Japanese cuisine. The owner is from Thailand, so it is authentic food. There are always customers inside, but the food comes out quickly regardless. It is very reasonably priced for the amount and quality of the food. Free street parking. Try the pad se ew, you won’t regret it.

We had a party of 8, the staff went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and our needs were met. I had the thai green curry with chicken and it was delicious! The staffs attention to detail and friendliness made us feel like we were a part of their family. Support small local businesses!

Spent a few months in Chicago visiting my brother, and drove past this place a couple of times, and decided to give it a try. Good food with good service. Love their fried rice and crispy chicken.

We came here for an early dinner today and really enjoyed the experience. We ordered gyoza, pork belly udon, Thai basil fried rice, yuzu lemonade, and Thai iced tea. Everything was served quickly and was delicious.

The building is not wheelchair accessible, requiring a few steps up to get in.

EDIT: The second time I came here the service was so poor, and the food was so bad that I now avoid this place completely. Our waiter was inexplicably rude despite us being literally the only customers there. It's a shame. It takes just one bad experience to ruin a restaurant.

ORIGINAL: Yummy Asian comfort food! Elgin definitely needs this place. The food is great, very friendly service, and a relaxing atmosphere.

I got the Veggie Udon and was not disappointed. I wish this new restaurant success. Also, I love the name. 😂

Udon Nomi used to serve some really good udon with pork belly that surpassed Kubo’s. But the most recent time I came to eat here, the pork belly was flavorless and the broth tasted subpar. The portion sizes are smaller than Kubo for the same price, and I was disappointed when I only got half a ramen egg in my $17 udon.
I couldn’t finish my meal because the udon ended up giving me a vicious stomachache. My friend was dining with me and afterwards they weren’t feeling too great, either.
Given the chance, I’d just eat at Kubo’s for a better atmosphere and similar prices for better food.
Service was really good. The waitress was very friendly.

Editing for clarity:
Last time I’d been to Udon Nomi was, ironically, about two years ago, and the last time I’d been there before that was about a year prior. I’m by no means a regular customer, but I can remember thoroughly enjoying my meal.
Kubo’s tonkatsu ramen compared to Nomi’s tonkatsu udon is $17.50. If the “significant” price different is .50c… then sure. You also get like 1.5x the amount.
I’m a little disappointed I was accused of never being here by the owner because of my google name, the first name IS my real name, i just don’t want to doxx myself whenever I go about my online life.
There are four things I didn’t mention in the initial review.
- the udon noodles are nice and bouncy
- the ramen eggs are sweet and flavorful
- the metal chairs scrape loud as hell against the floors and echo through the dining room when you go to get out of your seat.
- The pork belly was gummy and the skin was oddly hard and got stuck in my teeth.

I understand a business defending themselves, but the clearly aggravated shots were unwelcome. I don’t know how I’m spreading misinformation on the food quality when this is my personal experience, lol….

Tonight my family and I wanted to get some ramen and try a new place. After coming here I wished we would have just made ramen at home. We had 3 ramen 1 udon soups and a Chicken Green Curry. Our daughter found black hair in her Miso Pork Belly soup. They did replace it. I had there Signature Beef ramen soup and it was so bland so I'm not sure how this is there Signature Soup. The Green Curry was very watery. Couldn't really taste the curry or coconut milk. The wait for our food took at least 30min and the server was ok. We did finish most of our food do to hunger. After this bad experience we headed to a Mexican restaurant to satisfy the rest of our appetite. In all the total experience was not worth our time wasted or the $125 we spent. I would only suggest you come here if you have time and money to waste and are looking to be disappointed.

Long wait before they even took my order. It seems they prioritize online orders over customers who are already sitting inside, probably because we’re not going anywhere. Not going back.

Mushy soft noodles greasy meat that tastes like old kitchen definitely the worst ramen I've ever had didn't even offer me a discount when I walked away from my full bowl

Great place! Love that it’s local. Great menu. Refreshing to have many vegan options. Everyone I’ve introduced to this place has loved it. Can’t wait to come back.
