Sushi is no longer served here which surprised me but instead I chose a teriyaki shrimp lunch meal which was excellent. I also LOVED the golden shrimp and will be back for that!!! My food was hot with decent portions, and the lemonade tasted freshly-made and tart. I think she may have used pure ingredients as I watched her make a pitcher at the bar area. I also liked the music which surprised me- 90's R&B slow jams. Super chill and quiet atmosphere here with interesting and unique decor throughout.

Great food, great service, lower grade because a lot of pork options, and could use more poultry options. This has become one of my and my wife's new go-to while in Elmhurst.

Kan Ya in Elmhurst is hands down one of my favorite spots! I order from them at least once a week, and it never disappoints. Their spicy umami miso soup is incredible—rich, flavorful, and the perfect comfort food. Everything is always fresh and packed with care. The staff is friendly, the service is quick, and the quality is consistently top-notch. If you’re craving something delicious and satisfying, this place is a must-try. Highly recommend!

Edit: Kan Ya has gone downhill in quality. I'm not sure what has happened, but we went back after about a year of not going and the flavor was completely different and quite frankly average. Maybe an off day, but it seemed more like a recipe change.

Been going to Kan Ya for nearing a year. It's consistently good, the best ramen I've had in the suburbs.

The Tonkotsu Black Rich Ramen is my favorite. The chashu fried rice is the best fried rice I've had anywhere. The Kan Ya bun is fantastic, as well.

I think a 2/5 is generous. The broth was extremely bland — tasted like water mixed with canola oil. Couldn’t they have added at least bouillon cubes? And for $18 for the “garlic lovers” ramen which didn’t taste of garlic at all.

Gyoza were ok-tasting, but actually really oily and not crispy. The decor is ok.

Walked in and looks nice.

Chinese guy as server. Hear cooks in back all speaking Chinese. Not a good sign.

Uber delivery drivers complaining that orders are very late.

Their 'special' tonkotsu ramen broth has no flavor. Really mediocre. Best thing in the ramen was the egg. That was good. The rest was just not very good.

Pan fried gyoza, not crispy, flavor OK. Wife found ground bone in hers.

Karaage was nice and crispy, but had no flavor.

Not recommended, would not go here again.

The place was comfortable and the music was good. But all of the appetizers taste better than the ramen . The broth lacked flavor and also spice

I visited this ramen spot with a friend, and unfortunately, it was disappointing. We both ordered the soup ramen and a cucumber salad. We arrived around 1 PM but didn’t receive our food until 1:40 PM. The total bill came to about $45, which felt steep for what we got.

The cucumber salad was underwhelming—just sliced cucumber on lettuce with soy sauce and vinegar. If that’s standard, I wasn’t impressed. The ramen itself lacked flavor and tasted like plain noodles and water. The noodles weren’t even proper ramen but thin spaghetti. The vegetables were fine and cooked well, but the broth was bland and unappetizing. While they provide soy garlic sauce and chili oil, it didn’t salvage the dish.

On Google, it shows that they serve vegetarian dishes, but it’s definitely not worth it. Overall, we left disappointed after eating just a bit. Not worth the price, wait, or experience.

Vegetarian options: The vegetarian options are not clearly labeled, and there is no substitutions available for anything on the menu.

Dietary restrictions: They have a few vegetarian options, but they do not allow for substitutions of any kind.

Parking: Parking is available, however if you’ve never been in the area, it can be difficult.
