Pretty mad about the bartender here. Came in on Saturday night for a friend that was out of town. Maybe 12 of us. I told the bartender to close my tab, she made a mistake and rang all my drinks on ny friends. I said no problem, ill cover both tabs. Closed out amd tipped heavy. Then walked up and handed her an extra $100 cash and said take care of my 2 friends tab, keep $30 for yourself and pay the tabs of whoever you want with the leftover. Well... my friends tab didnt get paid... I assume she just pocketed the $100. Could have made $60 in tips and made a lot of patrons happy, but she decided to be greedy and pocket the money. Shame.

We did not plan to stop at Manny’s Ale House in Elmhurst. It was one of those places you land when life feels a little too heavy and you just need to sit down and so you do a quick search on Apple Maps, read the words “Comfort Food Restaurant” in the description and click “Go”

We had just dropped our daughter off at the airport. She is moving to Greece for a year, and my heart was breaking in that quiet, uncontrollable way. Tears came in waves, the kind you cannot explain or stop. We walked into Manny’s simply hungry and worn out after driving the wrong way out of town for 8 minutes and my husband mumbling “How does anyone freaking live up here…”, not knowing that we were about to be met with exactly what we needed.

What I did not realize at first was that Manny’s is owned by a Greek gentleman and that small detail changed everything.. God has a way of sending us right where we need to go.

Our waitress, Kimberly, was exceptional from the start. Kind, attentive, and warm in a way that feels genuine rather than practiced… putting her hand on my shoulder when tears flowed freely as I tried to order. When she learned why we were there and where our daughter was headed, she did not rush past it or offer empty platitudes. She leaned in with care.. the way they do in hometown bars with waitresses that KNOW their customers even though we were strangers just passing through.

Kimberly recommended the saganaki, a traditional Greek cheese served flambé style with fresh squeezed lemon juice, and it was incredible. Rich, warm, and comforting in a way that felt symbolic of the moment. Before serving it, she wrote a toast to our daughter on the back of a receipt so that I could send her a photo of the moment. A real toast… but with cheese and bread. Thoughtful and sincere.

In that moment, something shifted. What began as a whoa is me, I am going to miss her so much, I cannot stop crying, please let me get through this meal kind of stop turned into a celebration. A celebration of the life our daughter is stepping into. A celebration of courage, adventure, and the beauty ahead of her in Greece.

The owner came by our table as well. He spoke kindly and confidently, assuring me that Greece is wonderful, that it is full of life and beauty, and that our coffee-loving daughter is going to be extremely happy there. It felt less like reassurance from a stranger and more like comfort from someone who knew exactly what he was talking about.

And yes, the food really was excellent. Especially the saganaki. But what made this experience unforgettable was not just what was on the plate. It was the people. The kindness. The way a random stop turned into a sacred pause in a very emotional day.

Manny’s Ale House did not just feed us this afternoon. They held us. They met us in a tender moment and helped turn sorrow into celebration. I will never forget that meal, or the people who made it what it was.

Went for a quick bite to eat today and we each had a bowl of cream of chicken soup. The soup was pretty good and tasted like it was homemade. Next we got nachos and added steak. There were 8 tiny pieces of steak on the entire dish (was an additional $8). The chips were burnt. The cheese tasted like it came out of a can and there was an overwhelming amount of it.
The menu prices didn’t reflect the bill. The place has a pretty standard bar atmosphere. The waitress was very nice.

We used Manny’s catering service for a small business outing and couldn’t be happier with the experience. From the very beginning, Manny was incredibly helpful in guiding us through menu options and making sure everything was tailored to our group. The food arrived on time, piping hot, and full of flavor. From the creamy adult mac n’ cheese to the mini cheeseburgers and boneless wings, every dish was a hit—my team loved it all. The service and quality were outstanding, and we’ll definitely be using Manny’s again for future events.

Best chill spot ever! We came from out of state and could not be more thankful to find Manny's for food and drinks. Everyone was so friendly, great deals, delicious food. If we are ever back in this area, we will have to come here again.

This was by far the worst places I ever ate at! I went for the first time with a friend for lunch. I ordered the calamari which felt like I was chewing on rubber. My friend ordered the fried cauliflower bites which was the worst thing we ever tried . We both could taste the freezer burn which made both are stomachs sick. I also had the mojito which had no taste. I didn't finish the drink, or the calamari and cauliflower bites. The food was so bad we stopped after one bite each. We told our waitress how bad everything was and still got a $50 bill.

Me and my wife have been going here for the last year every friday night to eat and I have never got something to eat there that was not fantastic. The staff is all amazing and when they see me they know to get a coffee ready for me. Since I have not had a drink in 9 years this is the only place I have been where I feel comfortable. I will continue to be there every friday night. Thank you to manny and his staff from bottom of my heart. 7/8/16
