Food was good and place nice, but allowing misbehaved children, including one that was allowed to ride a scooter in restaurant banging into tables is totally unacceptable. For that, I will not go back

We really looked forward to trying this downtown Elmhurst eatery, but left very disappointed. We arrived early, before 5, wanting appetizers and dinner. We were told happy hour apps and drinks to 6. We ordered drinks and shortly after 5 ordered 2 apps, tuna tostada and flat bread. Drinks came, but no apps. When the server came by for more drinks, we asked about apps and were told they'd be right up. At 5:40, still no food, we asked to speak to the manager. We were told the apps were put in at 5:23. Apps came 5 minutes later, tostada was good, flat bread soggy. Manager comped 2 drinks and we left.

Service was sub par. Food was extremely salty and not great. We went for our anniversary, noted in our reservation and there was no recognition of it at all. Ordered two glasses of cabernet and brought us a bottle of the wrong wine. Then corrected and charged us for a bottle, not two glasses. Food and wine took forever to come. Manager was not happy and it showed. It is a shame because I really wanted to like this place. It was our first time there and it will be our last. Elmhurst has many other restaurants that are worth dining at.

Frank and the team are the best! They care. Their menu has a scrumptious variety. Great microbrewery selections. Right on the intimate York Street row.

Came to the restaurant to try their happy hour. My friends and I were not disappointed. The drinks were great and the food was fantastic. I will definitely be coming back since it is close by.

Four of dined on Sunday, early afternoon. Two of us ordered egg dishes, one had the lobster benedict and another had a sandwich. My omelet, the Country Scramble was supposed to have scrambled eggs/bacon/breakfast sausage/onion/green peppers/cheddar cheese/over breakfast potatoes. There was not much bacon or sausage to be found and it had red and green peppers and fingerling potatoes. Besides that, it still tasted good. The person who ordered the lobster benedict loved it. Everyone seemed satisfied with what they ordered. Service was excellent and they let us linger for 2.5 hours. It wasn't busy. Easy parking in the parking garage and you can enter in the door in the alley, across from the garage, which is a short walk. Nicely decorated and seating was very comfortable, not crammed. Huge bar area and also has outdoor seating (but was too hot out, so we sat inside). We will return and try dinner. They also have music in the back room on certain nights. Nice addition to Elmhurst.

Service was slow and someone in our party never received their food because of some “mix up.” Not sure if the mistake was made by the server or in the kitchen. The manager came by and had the kitchen prepare it and said we wouldn't be charged. At that point, the rest of the party was pretty much done eating so we took it to go. When we got the check, the meal was not taken off the bill and it took some time getting that resolved. But the food we did receive tasted great. Could have been an “off” night so we plan to give it another try.

Modern plate, modern food :) vibrant atmosphere. The Sicilian Polish guy who welcomed us and found a table, made us want to come back! ?

We were at Stage 119 for a private party and got to enjoy salads and a variety of unique flatbreads - all of which were delicious! The menu offers a great variety of dishes and we plan to go back soon to enjoy a night or to dinner!

My first time at the Modern Plate today. I was blown away by the beautiful dining and club room. The food is absolutely amazing and filling. The owner Ted is a very passionate man about his restaraunt, and I admire that. It absolutely shows that there is concern and care that goes into every corner of the Modern Plate. Now, I was here for an event in the club room, but rest assured, I WILL be coming here for just the dining experience and the food. I live about 50min away, but it is...THAT good. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a beautiful dinner and a night on the town.

I ordered the meat loaf, one of the chefs specialties, Disappointing. Meat was very bland. Bacon wrap didn't add anything. 2 others with me ordered burgers. They were better than the meatloaf. Spice it up a bit

Atmosphere has a cool vibe, though it's loud so probably not great for a quiet evening. We were excited to try the place because all the recent reviewers have said they've had such incredible experiences. Ours unfortunately was not. Food was really subpar. The feta spinach dumpling appetizers were way over fried and not edible. The server didn't say anything when he picked up the plate still more than half full, so we asked they take it off the check which after a conversation with the manager was taken care of. Entrees were roasted chicken (okay but nothing to write home about), and chicken skewers (chx was dry, not at all flavorful and the rice almost certainly came from a mix, also wasn't flavorful or enjoyable). I left 3/4 of the meal there. The server was friendly but not skilled in serving. He should have known to ask about the majority of a dish left uneaten, it was later in the evening (8), wasn't very busy yet he got lost a number of times. When it was time to get the check it took 10 minutes for him to appear. We won't be back.

Wheelchair accessibility: Easy in and out for wheelchairs.

SPICY

Seriously, they have the best half-priced specialty cocktails during happy hour (from 3 to 6) in the industry. They also make really good old fashioneds. The appetizers are delicious, especially the pork belly and cauliflower. The entrees are big and come with a lot of protein and vegetables. The service is fast and friendly. I'll definitely go back for happy hour and order a bunch of appetizers next time.

We were immediately greeted by the manager who also presented our table. The food was beyond excellent in both taste and presentation. Then, the manager asked us how everything was, even when we were leaving. One of the nicest restaurant staffs we ever experienced in a long time!
