This place is a true gem in downtown Elmhurst! I had the breakfast sandwich and it was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is cozy, perfect for grabbing a bite or even getting a little work done on your laptop. Kai and her team really put their heart into everything they make, and it shows in both the food and the experience. Can’t wait to keep enjoying treats from Rough Edges at community events in Elmhurst and downtown at their welcoming space!

The oatmeal ube was so freaking delicious! I haven’t found anything here that I haven’t loved. I saw them at the Chicago House game this past weekend and the selection they had there was excellent. The owner is also super great.

The long silog breakfast was great, longanisa cooked perfectly! Cinnamon roll frosting was really good and not too sweet. :)

Tried the bagel sandwiches today at Rough Edges! It was by far the best I have ever had! You are awesome Kai!

Everything on the menu is amazing, but I recently tried the homemade “pop tarts”. Everyone had to treat themselves to this, it is heavenly!

Dining at Rough Edges was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment you walk in, the vibe is effortlessly cool — equal parts rustic charm and modern edge, much like the food itself.

The menu is tight but thoughtfully curated. Every dish feels like a signature. I tried the cinnamon roll and ube brownie, and it was outstanding — bold, sweet, and packed with flavor. Their handmade pastries really shine through, and the plating is clean and confident without being overdone.

The real magic, though, is in the balance: this isn’t just comfort food or fine dining — it’s both. You can tell the kitchen knows exactly what it’s doing, blending creativity with soul.

Service was warm and attentive, but never pushy. The staff clearly cares about the food and is happy to make recommendations. I was served by a Ethan Wong, and he had sure I was always accommodated.

If you’re looking for a place that feels genuine, where the food tells a story and the edges are rough in all the right ways — Rough Edges is it.

Ordered the bagel sandwich and croissant for takeout. Both were delicious! Bagel sandwich was especially tasty, definitely recommend!!

Very underwhelming, I came in looking for cupcakes as I saw online

Came in and asked if they had cupcakes with whip cream(I was expecting something like Molly cupcakes has with REAL whip cream)

Not straight from the can.. for $5…

Well beside the whip cream, the cupcake itself was not very good, something I would get out of a box

A great cozy place to hang out or grab a treat and go. Their breakfast bagel sandwiches are hands down the best I have ever had. I always enjoy treats from here

Either you want something hot for breakfast, or a donut, croissant, cinnamon roll, muffins..... Or a snack on the go such as delicious cookies, whoopie pie, lemon loaf or other flavored breads. This should be your new go to place! But you have to go early because if they sell out they may not have anymore! I had the best breakfast sandwich that I have had in a very long time... Because it was made with lots of love! It was so delicious, and I was so hungry that I think I inhaled it! Everybody that works there is so nice and so friendly! And everything was delicious! I went home with a big huge bag of everything I mentioned above! And one thing was better than the next from everything I tried and I tried to make it all last and not eat it all in one setting! So please go in there and try it yourself and prove me wrong, because you won't be able to! I should have taken pictures of everything I bought but the next time I go I definitely will! I was way too excited to get home and show what I bought! Just please go visit them!!! I know I'll be back for sure! 💜💜💜

A very cozy place for breakfast/brunch. Supporting small local business. Tried their filipino breakfast meal Longsilog (filipino sausage, egg and garlic fried rice) and the pandesal (filipino dinner roll) sandwich consisting of filipino sausage, egg and hashbrown-- must try. They also have the bagel sandwich with sausage. You can also have choose from a list of pastries they have. Highly recommended.

There were so many cool offerings. I chose the bad*** cookie and peach pop tart. Both were very tasty. I will be back to try more.

Small but mighty!

Located in a teeny nook conveniently located next store to an awesome coffee shop (Brewpoint), Rough Edges is brand new to town!

They have interesting offerings like Badass Cookie, ube brownie and mini pop tarts.

They’re only open UNTIL the early afternoon hours, so pop by on your way to the French Market or before work.

WELCOME TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD!

Opening day enjoyed the Ube Gluten Free Cake because they were out of the regular and it was very good! Woopie Pie was another very good sweet treat at home that I paired with an ice coffee purchased from another nearby small business. Excited to go back again soon!
