I have been going to Bennison's for 30 years, and make a special stop anytime I am in Evanston. The yellow happy face cookies are the best anywhere, as are the cumb cake and slab pies. You will be a hero if you bring home some treats!

Wow! It's hard to find such beautiful bakeries in the USA. This place blew me away the minute I entered. I chose biscotti.

Awesome bakery. However the prices don’t always correspond with the serving size. I purchased a cheesecake square smaller than the palm of my hand and it was $5.45. Literally took 2 bites. Portion sizes are too small for the price
Disappointed in the service today. There was one person taking orders and three others just talking near the register. When I placed my order the kids behind the counter just started giggling and laughing at the person that was taking the orders. Instead of apologizing they just ran away and laughed.
As for the pastries I ordered, the elephant ears dipped in chocolate was amazing. However the cheesecake brownie and eclairs tasted old.
Not sure what happened to this place, I used to come here a lot. 🤷
A little over hyped. And it proved them right. The Monaco croissant sandwich was good. But the Cannoli, ooh full of sugar sans taste. Disappointed.
We moved to Evanston in late 2013. We first lived on Maple, literally down the street!
I cannot remember how many times we visited this place. But I cannot remember tell you that each Birthday cake we had we got from Bennison’s!!
This place is always packed, an attestant to it high quality
The sandwiches are just delicious
The cookies are scrumptious
The cakes are always fresh and with no faked material
The donuts are the real deal
And the breads are fresh and tasty
What I like the most about this place is the fact that any holiday, no matter what religion they will make the customary cake or pastry!
We, Evenstonians are truly blessed to have this amazing institution in our town!
Great donuts, cookies, pastries and cake.
Check out their frowny-face cookies, very funny (and delicious).

Staff were super friendly and helpful, the pastries were delicious.
How can anyone justify charging so much for something that's basically just sugar? Real French macarons are made with almond flour, egg whites, and sugar, carefully balanced and crafted through a delicate process. That’s why they’re expensive — because of the technique and the quality ingredients involved.
But selling overly sweet, artificially colored sugar bombs with none of the almond flavor or texture? That’s not a macaron — that’s false advertising. You’re selling a knockoff and calling it luxury. Totally misleading!

Try the Italian. You won’t regret it
Went to the Farmer’s Market in Skokie this morning. Bennison’s is my favorite bakery, but I ended up not buying anything because the girls were so unfriendly.
Huge thanks to Bennison's Bakery for donating their delicious croissants to my Spanish class! Everyone absolutely loved them—flaky, buttery, and perfectly baked. Your generosity made our lesson extra special.
¡Muchísimas gracias! 🥐💛
Love everything here, I won't disclose my favorite item though, because then it will never be available to me again!
