I don't understand why they put giardiniera on the Rachel/Ruben. It stated on the menu but I didn't see it and definitely wasn't expecting it. I wish the waitress would have warned me.

My family (10 people) came in yesterday to celebrate my mom and aunt's birthday. We had an AMAZING experience! Our server, Beatrice, was truly incredible. The epitome of a great server. She was timely, cleared empty cups/plates between courses, brought napkins and new plates/silverware, and got everyone's order correct, despite many orders having specific modifications. The food was incredible, in particular- the pizza, smoked wings, terriyaki rice bowl with blackened chicken (HUGE portion, made 2 meals out of it!) and the blackened salmon sandwich.
My family has been coming to Bluestone for a long time, and we think they have made awesomely positive changes along the way.
DEFINITELY ask for Beatrice when you go in- you won't regret it!

They refused to honor their promotion through Entertainment.com that offers 25% off your bill with a paid membership. The apparently ill-informed manager told our waiter not to honor the membership. The owners have not responded to my email request for adjustment. As a long-time customer, this has left me pissed off, as has their chronic surreptitious overcharges and surcharges. If you can't make it in the restaurant business, transparently raise prices or shut down.

Bluestone’s burgers are the best around. You can build your own or select from a handful of other choices. Their menu is diverse with a variety of options. They also have a wide selection of local brews and mixed drinks. During the summer it’s nice to sit outside on the patio and for those cold winters, they have a fire place. It’s also a great location to watch sports or stop in for a bite before/after a northwestern game.

Nice option in the area for American fare. There were many options, including vegetarian and some classic bar staples with a stepped up feel. Service was great and very pleasant.
We had a 6:30pm reservation, and we arrived early. We were seated promptly upon arrival. The restaurant was very busy when we arrived, but our server came to our table very soon after we were seated... I had commented on the last time we dined at the restaurant, and the service today was by far more superior and attentive (note, the owner of Bluestone offered us a gift coupon for the lack of service attentiveness last time, which we appreciated). The server came to the table numerous times to ask for our drink and food choices, and the delivery was quick once we ordered. The smoked chicken wings were delicious. I had the brown rice bowl with the salmon which was delicious, and everyone else's meals were prepared nicely and were very tasty. All in all, a nice experience this evening.

Unfortunately we were underwhelmed with the experience. I have driven past this place many times and it always seemed to be full of people so I thought we'd give it a try. We only ordered starters; a veggie plate and an order of the jumbo wings and we didn't finish either and left immediately after. The wings were hard and overcooked and slathered in sauce, and the blue cheese that came with it was unrecognizable. It looked like a thick cup of coleslaw or some sort of custard. The veggie plate came with canned hummus and was just unimpressive. The server who took care of us only addressed my partner and acted like she couldn't hear me each time I spoke. I wished I had a better experience because I am still searching for a local Evanston restaurant that is a solid go-to place with good food, ambiance and service. Unfortunately this was not it for us.
