Rooftop with sunset was fantastic, one of the best old fashions I've ever had. Their cocktail list is carefully crafted and the pork tacos and barbacoa were out of this world! Go here!

Food was average, the food was Luke warm and the drinks were differently made, I order the same twice.
Sauces were too salty.
For the costly prices, I would expect a bit more bang for my buck!

If you’re looking for the most bland and overpriced food, this is the spot. For starters we tried to sit on the rooftop and the hostess was confused and sat us downstairs. We sat down and ordered chips and guac, not only were the chips cold and unsalted, they were hard as a rock tasting very stale. It was served with guac which was simply chunks of avocado with zero flavor, no salt, no lime, no cilantro, nothing. Then we both got steak quesadillas which were basically inedible. The meat had 0 flavor, the quesadilla was falling apart, and the worst part of it was they put that terrible guacamole on TOP OF MY QUESADILLAS. The corn tortilla used for the quesadilla was a hard shell. One order of chips and two quesadillas totaled out to $100 with tip. Overall, this was one of the worst restaurants I’ve ever dined at. And don’t forget the prices were INSANE.

Service seems to perpetually be nonexistent. We’re locals, we’ve been back 3 times or so. Never improves even with a revised menu. If you can’t make a decent taco or queso why bother? Great location, terrible restaurant.

We came to Comida Cantina on a chaotic Friday evening, and it turned out to be the best night. Despite the packed house, both Trey and Wilson handled everything with so much grace and professionalism. Trey gave us incredible food recommendations — the Barbacoa enchiladas were absolutely unforgettable. And Wilson? Hilarious stories had me laughing all night. Their energy, attentiveness, and genuine warmth made the entire experience feel personal and memorable. Everyone should go — it’s not just great food, it’s a whole vibe.

A huge thank you to Comida Cantina for generously donating a tres leches cake to my class! The cake was absolutely incredible—so rich and flavorful—and the students couldn’t get enough of it. The service was exceptional as well. We’re so grateful for your kindness and community spirit!
We walked in excitedly on Friday at 5 PM to try this location. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing right from the start. There was visible confusion at the host stand as they tried to seat the party of three ahead of us, which delayed even being acknowledged. When we finally got to the podium and asked for a table for four, we were asked if we had a reservation. We didn’t, but we were surprised when they told us they had nothing available, despite the dining room being full of empty tables.
We asked if there was a waitlist as we were willing to wait (being excited to try this spot), and were told flatly that there was nothing, period. As a lifelong city resident who’s dined at countless restaurants, I’ve never encountered a place that doesn’t hold any tables for walk-ins. It felt unwelcoming and frankly, bad for business.
We ended up walking next door to Bluestone, where we were greeted warmly and received excellent service. It was a stark contrast and a reminder that hospitality still matters.
Just good people. Stopped in for a drink to kill some time, glad I spent the 30 minutes here.

We got the shrimp, chicken, and short rib. Came with rice and beans. Short rib was good but the chicken tinga and shrimp tacos were bland with minimal toppings (almost none). Beans and rice were also bland. Considering the price, it was not worth it.
Odered short rib Fajitas. They were served over mushy vegetables. Fajitas should arrive sizzling hot. The Tres leches cake was white cake with frosting, not authentic

I've been here twice and both times were a great experience. Great service and great food. The waiters we had were very helpful. They have several great Vegan options.

Hey moneybags, you’ve found your tacos! Tired of spending sane amounts on south of the border street food? Come on up to Evanston where you can spend INsane amounts. Why spend less when you can spend more?
Ok, the food is fine. Stingy but fine. But it’s ludicrously priced for what you get. Hmmm, the enchiladas look like a deal. Oh…you want meat in them? You know, like, how most enchiladas have? Well that’ll be SIX more dollars! Way to hide the price. Clever. Want a glass of La Crema Pinot that you can buy in bulk at Costco? Well that’ll be more than you pay at the fancy French restaurant downtown with the imported rare wine that’s unique. Your wallet will be impressed if your pallet is not. But hey this is for the new money folks who are impressed by cost.
Ok back to the tacos. Three good bites per. When I was growing up my high school cafeteria had something called a “taco snack” and this was more of a taco snack. The whole tiny-taco thing is so 2015. But the prices aren’t!
Anyway my wife and I each had the two-taco “platter” and a glass of wine with chips and salsa. Like a bare minimum of an order. We weren’t all that hungry. With tip and tax it was $100!! Are you kidding me?
Fly to Austin, visit the food-truck park, get similar of not better food, and you still might be ahead. Plus Austin is cooler than Northwestern. No offense wildcats but your school doesn’t even have a dive bar. Gotta study!
Service was fine. We asked the bartender if we could get tacos ala-cart. She said we could leave off the beans n rice. “Same price?” “yeah”. Um… ok, that was at least worth a chuckle. They could give us less for the same price and call it ala cart.
Summing up, if you can’t tell, I’m less than impressed. Actually I’m a combination of amused and pissed off. Mexican food is a tradition of value and care. I lived in California and routinely paid a fraction for more interesting food.
Absurd.

We’ve been here twice. The first time I thought they were having a bad night so we tried it a 2nd time. Same result. Drinks are great while the food is not good. It’s extremely expensive so you expect something unique or amazing. That never happens. The tables are dirty as are the flatware. Really diasppointing.
