Purchased a lemon blueberry loaf and this is what we got. Almost no blueberries and the lemon flavor was very weak. It was moist though.
I tried one of the soups and found it underwhelming. More troubling, however, was the name of another soup on the menu. You cannot credibly claim ownership over a food, grain, or pasta that originates from a broader cultural tradition by assigning it to a single country. Doing so is as absurd as walking into a liquor store and seeing “Irish tequila” on the shelf.
Have frequented Foodstuffs over the last decade, as I was a student at Northwestern. Now when I am in the area, I will always stop in. Sad to report that the quality has greatly decreased over the years. Today, I went into the store during lunch to order a LOCO TUNA WRAP - my go-to for many years. After waiting awhile (the speed of service hasn’t gotten any better in the last decade lol), I was greatly disappointed. I opened my wrap at home to find that there was NO TUNA on the LOCO TUNA WRAP. How do you forget to put tuna on a literal tuna wrap…? Given I live a 30 minute drive from the store, I was not going to drive all the way back for a new wrap. I called the store twice (right after lunch and then before close) to ask if they could refund my nearly $15 tuna-less TUNA wrap, to which they said they would “talk to the manager and call me back on what they could do.” Of course, nobody ever called back or actually helped me, so now I am writing this review and sharing photos. Poor customer service and faulty made-to-order food items are unacceptable at a “gourmet grocer.”
Friendly and courteous staff. Everything at this store was amazing.
Understaffed unable to cater to the people dont order here unless walk in they prioritize walking over phone/delivery.
Many options to choose from. Nice people working there too 👍
They have inside and outdoor sitting when it is nice outside.
REVIEW UPDATE: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Kudos to Jay Liberman, President of Foodstuffs, Inc (Evanston location) for his thoughtful and immediate response to my post. Jay and I spoke by phone about my experience. He heard me and authenticity cares and values customer satisfaction. He generously made right what was an unsatisfactory situation.
I returned yesterday for my weekly shopping and all went quite well. Every food item was superb⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I asked for you, Jay, but you were off sight.

Usually, over the years my experience at Foodstuffs in Evanston is a positive one. However, yesterday was a great disappointment for a number of reasons.
1. The edamame, feta, cranberry and chickpea salad was awful. The chickpeas tasted like the aluminum can that it came in. And, there was no edamame in the dish as advertised. I could not eat it. Next time, soak dried chickpeas overnight, then, cook them in a pressure cooker. It ‘s quick and will taste a lot better. followed the recipe so you don’t leave out an ingredient.
2. The zucchini lasagna was tasteless. It lacked salt and other flavors you would expect in a lasagna. I could not eat it.
3. The Panini sandwich with turkey, cranberry sauce, and brie cheese Is my favorite sandwich that I frequently purchase. However, at the checkout register, I noticed the sandwich bread— a croissant, (because they were out of the regular bread used to make the sandwich) was burned. I mentioned to the lady behind the register that I will not pay for a burned sandwich. She commented the panini press was probably too hot.” Duh…She did not offer to have the sandwich remade. Before I left, I asked for a croissant so I can remake the sandwich at home. It wasn’t the same because I did not have a Panini press. It just didn’t taste the same. I spent a lot of money on poorly prepared and inedible food. Foodstuffs you didn’t deliver this time. I’ll order from a restaurant next time.
They have the best tuna I’ve ever had. One of my favorite lunches is their tuna melt with avocado on a croissant. I also love their dips and crackers and really appreciate their free samples!
Amazing tuna - I’ve tried maybe 100 tunas at this point and Courtney’s tuna at foodstuff is the best I’ve ever had. Their dips are great too!!
Bad customer service from the caucasian American teenager at the register! Have the same level of customer service for all people! Who ever raised him did a piss poor job!

Extremely over-priced repackaged foods.
Seems to be good quality stuff, but everything seems overpriced.
Small poke bowl is $14!!! And had maybe two ounces of salmon. Essentially all rice and veg.
Amazing!!!!! Foodstuff is super if you need to impress your friends, boss or clients with outstanding quality of food.
Nice small store serving gourmet cookies and snacks. Quite expensive, but worth it.
Amazing cookies!
