Thrilled that this place is under new ownership- finally!!! It’s so much cleaner and the service is so much more friendly. Totally worth going back if you’re been holding off.

A note to the reviewers who say the scones are dry- scones are supposed to be dry!!!!

Staff are very friendly here. They immediately greeted us and served us a hearty sample of their cranberry nut bread. We ended up getting a raspberry lemon scone and monkey bread. The scone was pretty dry and not memorable, which was disappointing. 5/10. The monkey bread was good but I’ve had better. 7.5/10.

Overall, I’d probably drop by here one more time but I won’t be a regular.

Also, I asked about a student discount and was told by an employee that they don’t have student discounts, and that Northwestern actually ignored their request for a collab. However, Northwestern’s student discount page literally lists Great Harvest (this exact location) as a partner for 10% off…?

was going to Backlot coffee but their line is always out the door and its not THAT good. so we were down to try another spot. popped into great harvest and WOW!!!!!!! amazing kind employees who had calming kind energy. they had delicious samples out. i can’t even begin to explain how much i enjoyed my sandwich. i got the chipotle turkey and it might just be the best sandwich i’ve had. EVER! in my life!!!! it took a bit of waiting, but that just tells me they aren’t keeping premade sandwiches in a refrigerator, they are truly stacking and creating these marvelous sammy’s! they grill it , gosh i don’t even know where to begin with this incredible sandwich. ive already planned to go tomorrow to get a pumpkin scone and dakota loaf-their pastries and loaves all looked remarkable, they have creative funky fresh flavors and that are all perfectly executed. amazing cool crew of employees and customers. i cannot wait to come back this is my new favorite spot in the northshore !!

I'm so happy Great Harvest is at the helm of a wonderful new owner! Good luck Kate! I've been coming for years and the old owner was not warm or welcoming and the product inconsistent. I CAN'T figure out the few bad reviews. Maybe they are not used to fresh ground in house flour and healthy, quality ingredients. Some bakeries add dough conditioners, hydrogenated oils and more to make a softer moister product. But if you are looking for highest quality, natural breads & desserts, this is the best. Free samples! The basic honey Whole Wheat is always moist and flavorful. They have a low carb Dakota Bread that's whole grain and yummy and when you want to splurge, indulge on the Apple Scrapple! (worth an extra work out !) I've never had scones, which is what some bad reviews were about, but read all the 5 star reviews instead! In fact, you should ADD a 5 star review to try to battle this lower rating from the previous owner.

The staff and new owner of great harvest are so welcoming! Even on busy days when I have visited every customer is greeted and offered samples.

I love that I can grab breakfast or lunch with a coffee here during my work day. The staff has great flavor suggestions for lattes and pairing with baked items!

I am German. I love a few things European - Bread, wine and cheese! I am picky with all 3.
I had to go see a client on Central Ave. and stumbled upon this hidden gem. I walked in and saw breads galore! I found my two favorites - focaccia bread and sour dough. Best breads I had in a long time!!! I will always visit this place when I am in Evanston! ♥️

Recently moved to this area of Evanston and had been curious about this establishment. Stop in looking for an appropriate bread to eat due to my diabetes. Spoke with a wonderful young man that took an interest in my needs. He recommended the low carb Dakota. He even provided my a copy of the nutritional information about the break. The bread tastes amazing and I will be returning to continue purchasing.

Breads, muffins, and scones, below average. All flour and dry.
Dakota bread DRY and tastless. I am from South Dakota and was insulted by this product.
We don't make tasteless Dakota bread where I am from. Even neighboring Midwest states like Iowa and Minnesota do a much better job. Where are you getting your grain from???Female counter staff with white hair was condescending and rude. Must be taking lessons from the owner.(See other reviews.)
Shop did not appear to be clean, and cook did not use gloves, hat or hairnet(with long stringy hair).

Scones are so tasty. The service is exceptional, and there are really cute people working here. Definitely recommend it!

Amazing baked goods. The store design itself is amazing and the food is wonderful. The atmosphere of the store is truly a great place to be. The staff are always attentive, nice, and always ask how you are doing. Kate and her team are always great. I would recommend this store to anybody in the area. My favorite bakery by far in Evanston.

Bought a sourdough. I don’t think it was fresh by any means. It is quite salty as well, and had zero humidity. Will stick to Hewn, or even whole foods.
