Had a great experience. The food was delicious. I got tofu steak that came with some rice and coconut sauce over vegetables. The vegetables were cooked perfectly. They were not mushy or soggy. They were nice and crisp and flavorful.

I ordered to go because they were close to closing and brought a Ramen with tempura vegetables back to my hotel. It was incredibly delicious. The containers they use kept the food very hot, and it was delicious. The noodles, the broth, the tempura, all of it.

Ordered online carryout and the food was excellent. However, the entrees ordered came with soup or salad. We selected soup for both entrees but received only one soup serving. I called and they're giving me a credit for a future order.

Shrimp tempura roll and teriyaki salmon were excellent. The gyoza was just ok, as was the yakisoba with chicken. The spicy tuna roll was extremely spicy. Server was pleasant. Was fine overall.

This place used to have very high quality fish, and I would go here often for lunch. Kansaku was expensive, but you were getting your money’s worth in fish quality.
However, they must have changed suppliers or something else in the past two months. The fish quality is now terrible. The tuna tasted old, and yellowtail was falling apart on the rice. This is the sign of either old or not properly stored. You are now paying premium prices for gas station sushi.
It is a shame that Kansaku has nosedived in quality so fast. Hopefully the owners fix this.

We order takeout from kansaku all the time and are very happy with the quality of their sushi. It's always fresh and delicious. We eat in the restaurant less frequently but have always had wonderful service when we do! This is our favorite sushi in Evanston!

One roll was great- the other one had a slight flavor of butane- otherwise food was excellent. I got carry out and there wasn’t enough soy sauce or napkins, and only one set of chopsticks- really?

Kansaku is our go-to Japanese restaurant. It's family-owned. We sat outside on a lovely late September evening to enjoy our meal. I had the Tempura Bento Box -- so much food that I never leave hungry like I have at other sushi places. Service was prompt and attentive. My wife and I have no reason to try other Japanese places when this is only a mile away from us.

I love this place, however my mom and I had to wait for an hour or longer for our second round of food and I got annoyed by how understaffed they were I will never go back

I almost never give 5 stars, but this experience aced it. Kamikazie was the capturing event of the roll. Service from server and bus boys felt like we were honored guests. The soup in the bowls were so tasty. The value was a shock for four people. We're regular diners with experience to always rerurn.
