Anytime we're back visiting this is THE sushi spot. They have incredible staff and servers and you can also sit outside which is nicely heated when it's chilly out. We order the fire dragon roll, carnival, volcano roll and the fiesta roll. Their dessert is also insane.. they have a chocolate melting cake that's hard not to order after our meal. You have to try Kansaku if you haven't already!

The food was greasy, fish tasted funny, sauce was obviously old. Server never checked in on us. Tables are extremely close together, there is little to no wiggle room. We are both 16 (underage) they willingly sold us an oyster shooter containing alcohol. Customer service was terrible.

Food is delicious, and the atmosphere really nice, just the service is crazy, one of the servers was rushing us with our food and because she was lazy to come to our table she brought the check while we were eating and just threw it on the table. Because of bad service we tipped her minimum amount (logically) and she waited in front of the bathroom to rudely with the worst attitude possible ask us to tip her more, because apparently she was claiming that they are making her pay some amount of our meal . Because we weren't trying to ruin our mood we didn't argue with her and ask her how much she needed us to pay, and we gave her the amount that she asked . But her attitude was the worst possible! Never had that kind of experience anywhere before and i'll make sure i'll never go there to have it again. No manners, no politeness and plus they are gonna cause a scene after that treatment if you don't give them as much tip as they want.

When it comes to sushi this is always our favorite place. The best and freshest sushi and it always looks pretty. The presentation is amazing. The food is delicious and the staff are very friendly. You must try this restaurant!

Man the ambiance is off the chain, smooth r&b playing in the background will make me come back and spend my coins. Do we start with bacon-wrapped scallops? They were delicious as always. We also had drinks which were a margarita made with Patron and a pear martini! Our entree was a Lobster King, creamy Lobster, and crab crunch rolls. They were made perfectly. Our server was really nice and professional. Kansaku is my favorite sushi restaurant. They have never let me down. But I have to say the music they are playing is really impressive considering they're in downtown Evanston. Mywife and I are the only minorities in the entire place other than the workers . They are jamming y'all! I can't believe it...it made the experience even more enjoyable to eat here! Now not just because of the cuisine but I actually have another reason to come dine in. All they need is a dance floor now!

Nice ambiance, great food and servers but, I don't recommend going on a holiday. We weren't lucky to try it on Valentines Day because the wait was out of control. We had to wait for an hour to get the sushi we ordered.

Kansaku was our go-to date night spot when we lived in Evanston, but recently moved to Edgewater and hadn't been in a long time. My husband surprised me by taking me there for Valentine's Day and it was an amazing meal, love sitting at the sushi bar and even though it was super busy for the date night holiday, we enjoyed just taking it easy and enjoying the sake and perfect sushi.

The food was great but we were asked to leave so other parties could be seated exactly one hour after our reservation time! Even for higher-end restaurants that limit seating time, 90 minutes is the standard. We had barely finished eating and it was disappointing to be ushered out so quickly. The waitress was polite enough about the request, but it still left an overall negative impression

Food was decent. But we were asked to leave after being there less than 1 hour because they said people were waiting. That seemed rude. We literally just finished when they asked us to leave. Be a little patient. A couple of minutes isn't unreasonable.

Great service for our large(ish) group of 7. Our server checked in with us, handled the multiple credit cards with panache, and did it all with a smile. The bento lunch is stupendous, but I can't resist a good katsu donburi.
