Kuni's Japanese Restaurant

Have not ordered from the kitchen, only the sushi bar, which is among the best in the city. Fresh, delicious, skillfully created. This is an authentic, Japanese-owned and operated restaurant, and it shows. Can't say enough. A transcendent experience every time.

Kuni's is a great sushi restaurant. Kuni's nephew Jun has been the sushi chef since Kuni and Christine retired before Covid. The fish is still fabulous, service outstanding and familial atmosphere the same. Best traditional sushi anywhere from the north side of Chicago to the northern suburbs. Always a great meal.

The best sushi I've had in the Chicago area. I lived in Japan for ten years, and this is a very authentic Japanese restaurant with high quality dishes at a reasonable price. I highly recommend it!

Most amazing sushi I’ve had in Chicago! The fish is so delicious, the sushi so well prepared and the staff extremely kind! Besides, the retro vibe of the location is extremely fun! Really recommend

Literally so bad no clue why this place has a 4.6 star rating. Salmon was good actually, but other than that we just got a bunch of makis (maybe 8 different types) and all were just gross. I love sushi and I feel like I’m not that picky but it was so nasty that I felt compelled to write this review

If you’re looking for good sushi 🍣 this is not a right place. It’s not expensive but it’s not good. I’ve tried the salad there and it was the worse salad I’ve ever had

Kuni’s is phenomenal- it has become my go to spot.
The staff is incredibly friendly, and I’m always glad when I see Nan as my server!
I’ve been waiting a while to post this review so that I could share photos of all the amazing food I’ve had this year.
Kuni’s is one of my favorite restaurants. I will always come back.
