Food was fresh. Really liked that they give you spicy cabbage to start with. We had to order an additional side of this. It went so well with the soup!

I ordered the combination dry pot from this restaurant through UberEat, and there’s a beer cap in the food.

I have been a loyal customer for years and have always appreciated its existence. However, after consuming the 'duck blood curd' on Saturday night, both diners experienced dizziness, nausea, and fatigue. We attributed these symptoms to the food and attempted to contact the restaurant chain, but we have not received a reply after 24 hours. They may be busy, but we are concerned about our experience.

The dry chili chicken and twice cooked pork are the best! I would recommend trying these classics.

I went here for dinner on Christmas Day, and I was informed at the door that,-- as it is one of their busiest days of the year-- there would be an inordinate wait on food, maybe 45 minutes or so. Understandable. I work in the industry, I don't celebrate holidays, and I don't know how to cook, so I'm always just grateful that there's any place open that will feed me, and I'm a pleasant customer who tips well, so no worries at all. What really ruined my dinner, however, was the appalling behavior of the guests around me. Even though the waitstaff-- who were incredibly friendly and attentive, especially considering the circumstances-- stopped by frequently to check in on all of the tables, reminding everyone of the extra wait times and apologizing profusely (even though, IMHO, they had nothing to apologize for), STILL people were complaining. Complaining to people who had to work on Christmas, while THEY were able to spend time with their families and have a nice meal by contrast. I felt so bad for the staff-- who were all amazing, by the way-- and in all honesty, I didn't think the wait for the food was unreasonable at all. The appetizer I ordered came out right away, and I don't think I waited more than 25 minutes for the rest of my meal after that-- certainly not 45 minutes anyway, and even if I had, they were giving everyone notice about the wait at the door AND at the table, and that was exactly the right thing to do. You could tell the staff was prepared, and did everything that they could to make sure everyone got served in as timely a fashion as possible, and everyone should have been A LOT more grateful for that than they were. The only thing I could have found to complain about was the tablet system for ordering, just because I prefer a different style of dining out, but even so, I know as well as anybody how COVID-19 changed the landscape for this industry, and for a lot of places, instituting that kind of a procedure is the best course of action for staying in business. So even that I can forgive. Plus, the waitstaff was incredibly attentive and proactive in answering all of their guests' questions about the ordering process, for which again, I give them 5 stars. It honestly just made me cringe the way all of the customers around me were acting, and I really wish I had stood up and said something to all of those ungrateful cretins, I really do. I hope if any of you are reading this (perhaps because you came to leave your own, negative reviews for some ungodly reason) that you feel ashamed of yourselves. As penance for staying quiet when I should have spoken, I tipped enough on my bill to buy a round for the staff on top of the gratuity, so I hope that helped a little bit to not allow the people who dined that day to ruin all of their Christmas Days. THANK YOU, Lao Sze Chuan, for your professionalism in the face of adversity and for providing Evanston with great food and service! You will absolutely be receiving my business again in the new year.

I feel like if I spend $50 on 2 dishes and a boba tea, it should include rice? Or at least ask me if I want any rice, before I leave with my take-out?

The food was delicious. Place was clean and nice ambiance. The ordering was a bit confusing bc it has to be done through a QR code even if dining in but luckily our sever notice we were having a bit of a hard time and gladly took our order the old fashion way ?

All our items were great - the Szechuan chicken, home style tofu, and sesame noodles. Pickup was easy - the food was waiting for us at the front and was still hot by the time we got home. Would highly recommend for anyone wanting Chinese food in Evanston.

Best Chinese on North Shore. The Evanston branch has a slightly more extensive menu that the Skokie branch. The only reason not 5 stars is their delivery service is unreliable.

Three cups chicken is my favorite. I've eaten this dish in Chinatown and skoki's branch respectively. It's a completely different taste. The taste here is the best. It has a sweet basil flavor.

Highly recommend the eggplant, I had mine with pork. I ate it with chopsticks, but you can use a fork. Take your time, savor each bite. Good food, good price, day or night.

The food was great. The waiter was on point and not over bearing. I sat outside and it was comfortable. Inside would've been nice also.

I enjoyed the lunch special at Lao Sze Chaun in Evanston! It comes with an appetizer, drink, and entree- you can't beat it! The food is delicious. I am a big fan of the Szechuan Beef and Chicken dishes :)
