I prefer NY Style Bagels. I wasn’t aware of Montreal style, until after I started chowing’ down on my order.
Found this place on a walk with my friend, I love carbs, bread and bagels, so naturally I returned.
First impression : I was sad. The cream cheese was not smeared on the bagel, so I could not bite and go. Sesame bagel had lots of sesame seeds, but it was not the NY style bread I know & prefer; it was giving Dunkin’ or Starbucks bagels.
My lox, The Billy Corgan, amazing. Salmon was soft and buttery, but sandwich was missing the fresh crunch of veggies. Lefty’s version has lemon dill cream cheese, but I opted for good ol’ plain cream cheese and I’m glad I did, the Montreal style bagel was not bageling for me. The necessary sodium intake was met with the Billy Corgan, coming in with only pickled red onions, capers and a pickle on the side.
The bagel was tough tbh. However, because it was loaded with the smoked salmon, I devoured it.
Sesame bagel with cream cheese was 5.50 and small coffee was 3.50.
Coffee was strong, and aromatic. I actually wouldn’t mind a cup on another Tuesday Morning around 8AM, to get some computer work done in this cozy space .
Coloring pages with crayons are provided while I waited for my order .
No picture of the actual Lox because I ate it, and completely forgot the photo shoot.

I liked their coffee but the bagel wasn't that good. Also they don't smear the cream cheese which makes it inconvenient if you're on the go.

The bagels are great! I did however get leered at by a man outside, he pressed his palms against the glass, staring at me for several minutes. After, because that wasn’t enough, he cracked the door open to mutter obscenities at me - I had to be blocked by my partner and that didn’t really help. As that entire interaction happened there were around 7-9 staff members working. Did they help? No, they did actively did nothing - never asked if I was okay, never even looked in my direction. They did however offer him water and ask if he was okay because as one person put it they “didn’t know what to do”! And then, as we left he went to grab me and he grabbed my partner by accident instead! So do I recommend this place? Perhaps for a quick bagel if you like, but wouldn’t really suggest anything else, the service is…lacking. :)

I walked to get bagels there and took them home to eat them. When I got home, one bagel was missing an item and the other bagel which was supposed to have lox and cream cheese but was empty. After walking back and explaining the issue, they only refunded and had us repay for the same bagels. When the bagels were brought home they still weren't correct. Problem was not solved how it should be. Staff was very unaccommodating and slow to solve the problem. Would not recommend. Bagels were very dry.

I got some bagels and the key lime bialy. The bagels are very good, but the key lime bialy was insanely good. We got out baked goods at pop up so we didn’t get the full experience of the place but you can tell the bakers take a ton of pride in their craft.

The most inefficient run bagel shop. We waited an hour for a bagel with lox and cream cheese!

If you want to wait, come here! The lines aren't long because there are so many people, the lines are long because this the most inefficient operation in town! Good bagels, good food, good luck. Order in advance.

This place is a true neighborhood gem! Their woodfired bagels are always delicious and their staff is friendly, patient, and welcoming.
The owner, and the lead baker, are chatty in the best way, and it really feels like everything is made with care.
I usually order the same thing every time: a spicy giardinera bagel, toasted with jalapeño cream cheese & an iced coffee, plus (1) unsliced sesame and (1) Kerrygold cheddar bagels to go — for next day sandwiches.
Today I opted for The Eggy Vedder (breakfast sandwich) sub mayo for jalapeño cream cheese — and by George (!!) this might be my new order!!! The sandwich was messy but thankfully there were extra napkins conveniently located at my two-top table. I also tried their iced tea special, which was pineapple passion fruit black tea that was really tasty too.
Also, mark your calendar for next March because their corned beef bagel sandwich offered around St. Patrick’s day is something I still think about.
Put their address into Google map, and go already!

Came here on a Sunday to grab some quick breakfast and wasn’t disappointed with Lefty’s! Reasonably priced and very filling. I got the Eggy Vedder and it came out within 5 minutes of ordering. The staff were very friendly and helpful when I was ordering. Highly recommend!

A colleague brought me some LRB Bagels today... as a Montrealer (formerly of NDG and the Atwater neighborhood), I can personally attest that these bagels are on the same level as St-Viateur! Lefty, I'm coming to see you! I'm impressed!!! Best Bagel I've had in years!!!
Very good. Not lots of variety. Definately not a traditional deli. Thoughtful and considerate staff. Tasty sandwich.
