This place is small. I was really disappointed, because I ordered takeout and I ordered headed. When I arrived my order wasn't ready, they kept saying it would be out in a few minutes. Only to have me waiting 20 minutes after it took me 15 minutes to get there.

Shinsen was very delicious and reasonably priced for the quantity and quality of the food they provided. The staff were very polite and attentive and I highly recommend this for a nice date spot.

We had a killer dinner at shinsen tonight. The place was completely moved and I couldn't understand why. It was my first time here.

The food was just fantastic. It took a while because it was busy, but we were warned and waited patiently. I had the thin tamarind noodles. They came with some shrimp 🦐 cooked in the shell. Which gives the dish the next level of aroma. Intensely flavorful and the right amount of spice.

Also had the black widow roll with soft shell crab. Spectacular presentation and texture.

Our server was super busy but very friendly and kind.

Looks like they have sidewalk cafe in the summer too.

Besides the veggie options I ordered the Karaage chicken. Crust was the only part that had any seasoning. Chicken itself wasn’t dry but bland. Not a true Karaage dish as it had bones. True Karaage is flavorful and no bones. Mustard sauce was unappetizing as it was just another type of wasabi which here is just a rendition of a horseradish sauce. So your charging for Karaage and giving us fried chicken

2nd time for business meal here.
Thank you Ms. Poppy for great and thoughtful customer care.
Quality of Karaage is better than expectation. Good quality meat, good marinate for preparaton, chrispy thin deep fried koromo. Even better than what we can have in the most of places in Japan.

I love elephants, so I always wanted to try Shinsen. I stopped there on Saturday at 3:42 PM. A very friendly Asian person told me to choose any table outside. There were plenty of tables available. He recommended the $20 shrimp roll, but I was not convinced. The roll lacked flavor, and the shrimp was mushy. Although it was plenty for one meal, my total was $35, including a miso soup and the tip. I love the place and the service, but these shrimp rolls did not meet my expectations.

There are many restaurants featuring pleasant ambience, great service and excellent menu but all that together - plus zero “table turnover” harassment AND patrons conversing in normal tone of voice?? That’s not easy to find but that’s exactly what Shinsen does and why we’ll keep coming back.

Best Creme Brulee ever. Sweet but not too far. Super smooth. Coming with the ice cream which is perfect match. Bring the smell of tea and cream at the same time.

5 stars! I just had an amazing experience at this Japanese restaurant. The new Asian twist on classic dishes blew me away. The flavors were recognizable but with a fresh spin. The presentation was stunning and the cooking technique was on point. And the wine selection? Impressive! One of the best I've seen in a small restaurant. Can't wait to go back and try more!
