If you are given the choice to go to brunch--stay clear of this restaurant. While it looks vintage and intriguing this is your warning TO NOT GO. To give you some background of my awful experience I will enlighten you. I tried this place spontaneously on a holiday where just about every other place near me was closed. My friends and I had hopes of visiting the pancake house but upon seeing they were closed and proceeding to drive around we unfortunately came across...symphony's. The hostess was the opposite of nice and did not welcome us in any way. Then upon being seated in a back corner booth we were not given water for at least 20 minutes. Finally, the menus came and while they appeared to have many options that seemed very good, when they came over 40 minutes later, they tasted nothing short of awful. Personally, I ordered a ham and cheese crepe which tasted fine until my massive stomache set in and the large hair that was found in my crepe did not help the feeling of naseua at all. The waitress finally came after we were in this restaurant for 3 hours and gave us the checks which were extremely expensive. This entire place felt like an alternate universe that we were stuck in and could not escape. I will never go back to this horrid restaurant and I advise you to do the same.

Visiting my son one weekend, we walked here and we're totally impressed with the service and the food. It may have been the finest filet of beef with bernaise sauce I've ever had. The bottle of wine suggested by our server was perfect in taste and price. Our other guests were equally impressed. I will visit Symphony Cafe the next time I'm in Evanston. Well done!

My wife and I love Symphony's! We've been in twice and ordered for delivery multiple times and have always been impressed with the quality of the food and service. Recommended for anyone looking for good food and a relaxed atmosphere on Central St.
So I thought I give Symphony another try after 2 poor brunch experiences. I should have stayed away. I ordered the eggs Benedict and coffee. The eggs and hash browns came out cold. The server was nice and apologized and took meal away and said it would be replaced. It came back in 3 mins so I was skeptical. All the cook did was warm up the hollandaise and cover up wear I have taken a piece off. Hash browns were half the size as previous. When I asked to speak to manager was told no manager and no one in charge. Maybe that's part of problem. Btw if you want coffee refill you need to ask.

The food was delicious and the server Bridget was personable and attentive to our table. Our party of four ordered pork chops, beef medallions, salmon zechi (nightly special) and meatloaf (also a nightly special) Prices were moderate and we received very nice portions. We were very satisfied and plan to return in the future.
The waitress seemed to have a bad attitude initially. I brought my wife there for Valentine's day. We could've done without the attitude. According to the waitress, the kitchen was extremely busy and by the looks of the food presentation, it must've been. The food looked like it was thrown on the plate. 9 years we've been coming here for Valentine's day. This was the worst.

This is a great place! The food is delicious. The quantity is huge, so I always bring home part of my meal for another one at home. The service is good. I appreciate the quiet atmosphere at lunchtime. A minor nitpicking item is that the frames around pictures are very dusty, and could benefit from a quick cleaning.
