My project manager recently came down to Florida and brought us some Florentines with him from Tag’s. Quite literally one of the best sweet treats I’ve ever had, I think I might just have to ask him to bring them down everytime now!
I went around 9 am and the staff didn’t even acknowledge me when I walked in (there were 2 of them standing behind the case) so I probably should have just turned around then lol. I ended up spending almost $40 on cookies. I brought them to an event that afternoon- and I cannot make this up- every single one was stale. Every. Single. Cookie. Like, difficult to bite into and weirdly bendable stale. It was embarrassing. I think next time I’ll just bake cookies myself.
Tag’s is a wonderful family owned bakery with fun, delicious treats. The holiday themed baked goods are clever and scrumptious, and the cakes are always fantastic.

Yes, Tag’s has been around a long time. But it’s surprising given their lack of customer service. Deplorable. I purchased 9 cut out
pumpkin cookies. We had never purchased them before. So I called ahead to inquire about them. When asked if they were a plain sugar cookie with no flavor in either the cookie or icing the staff person said there wasn’t except for the chocolate icing for the face. I also explained that we were looking for plain, only vanilla flavored cookies like other bakeries sell at this time of year.
Upon tasting one we discovered it had a strong cinnamon flavor, which is not we were looking for. We purchased most for kids who are fussy about taste. I first spoke with “store manager” Alexandra. She first said it was the same recipe used for all their cut out cookies. I explained that we had never had their cut out cookies and that is why I had called ahead for information. I told her it was an overpowering cinnamon flavor. She went to check with the Baker and returned saying recipe calls for a hint of cinnamon, but that it doesn’t provide a cinnamon flavor. I offered that maybe this was a bad batch that got too much cinnamon in it? After going around and round with her without even an apology, I told her I was getting very irritated and that she could at least offer a credit. I spent $30 on the cookies or not what they told us it would be. She said we don’t do that and continue to go in circles with defending them. I’ve been asked her to have the person she reports to call me and she said there is no one higher. I then said well I guess you just want a very bad review. Then suddenly, she got somebody else on the phone named Dana. Dana was just as bad, if not worse. She went round and round defending the cookies and not even apologizing for the experience. After both of them wasting so much of my time I finally hung up. Maybe they need their managers to go through customer service training because they sure don’t get it. No apologies or a credit for their error. You can make good baked items but being so rude and not caring at all about the experience leaves customers frustrated. There are plenty of other good bakeries with people who care about their customers. Read the other low reviews and you’ll see this is typical. Be careful how much money you spend with them.
11-5-24. Thank you for your response, Gretchen. I appreciate it. Is there an email address or number I can reach you at?

It was our first time needing to order a cake since living in Evanston and we live near Central St so we wanted to support local. It felt like a risk ordering a cake for 50 people without ever having their cake before but it did not disappoint! Everyone wanted to know where we got our cake from.
Our party was Sunday so I picked up Saturday since they’re closed Sunday and it stayed perfect.
I brought in a picture of a cake I saw online elsewhere and they were able to recreate it perfectly.
I will say we got the 14” round for 50 people, but we had quite a bit left over even with just about everyone having a piece.
Tags made our graduation party sweet table like a work of art!!! Thank you!
I had some hopes for this one as other bakeries in Evanston seem to be getting a recent shoddy rep indicating they've rested on their laurels for too long. This one.....sadly isn't any different.
Shortly after walking in, I could immediately feel the aura of "order quick and get the F out" from the staff, which is very shoddy and pathetic. It's a bakery, not a fast food joint, don't treat it like a hastened experience.
As for the food, me and fiance agreed on the fact that the quality of cake slices matched the attitude of employees I encountered at the bakery. A damn shame indeed. I will continue to go into Chicago to Sugar Daddy for my cakes.
Kid-friendliness: They seem to tolerate the child that was there but not sure if it was genuine tolerance.

Incredible bakery you must go visit! Half of the location is a bit green and the other half is a café. When I walked in, I was greeted with the smile and excellent service. I let them know. This is my first time visiting. They suggested a few of their most popular treats I picked up a few cookies to try And the friendly woman behind the counter, offered me a complementary cookie on the house. Not only was the service, great, and the cookies were delicious, but the interior space was immaculate. I will definitely come back and will recommend this location to any of my fellow Bakery lovers, thank you

The best cookies ever! I order boxes for clients and friends and they never disappoint. The service is excellent and the adjoining cafe is a great place to hang out and order their hot soup - I love the mushroom soup! My new favorite neighborhood hangout!

Really pleased with this place! A go-to coffee shop was closed so I decided to pop in here. The service was so personable and lovely. My mocha was delicious! Chiron was patient and helpful as I couldn’t decide! It’s super cute and spacious inside. Give this place a try!
