Was excited to dine here with all the buzz and walked out a bit disappointed. It's got modern decor and is downright cozy-- people are on top of each other and it's an obstacle course to the WCs. The menu is steakhouse standard with a nice drink list. Our server was friendly enough to start and then disappeared for 15-20min, didn't check in after entrees, and we had to flag him down for the check. The food was below average for the prices and hype-- 1 salad choice and it was just ok. The tomahawk was ordered medium and came out still mooing. We were told that I comes with potatoes so didn't order a side of them. The portion was meager. Mind you, this was an $88 item. The Brussels sprouts were good and we enjoyed the wine and the company (3 couples).

This is my new favorite restaurant, my wife and I had the most amazing dining experience in a long time! Our server Cody was a delight and his recommendations were spot on. We had the tomahawk steak, ceviche, scallops,French onion soup and oysters, with the best old fashioned cocktail ever and the dessert of carrot cake and chocolate cake was the best we've ever had.I've lived in Chicago and eaten all over but the barn was my birthday gift and I can't wait to go back!!Thank you for the best service ever and the best meal of my life, WE WILL BE BACK.

We had the best time celebrating our 5th anniversary... The food and service were absolutely amazing. I had a medium rare tomahawk that cooked to perfection. My wife had that amazing crab spaghetti and the spice on it was whoooo weeeee.. Cody our server was the best... Very attentive!!
Amazing birthday dinner. Service was attentive and showed up at all the right times. Oysters, steaks, and dessert were fantastic. Steaks cooked perfectly. 4 people with appetizers, steaks, dessert and 2 bottles of wine for $500.

We just had the most delicious dinner at the Barn. We all ordered a prix fixe meal each selection was Absolutely delicious! The waitstaff is warm and professional . I was kind of disappointed in this place. At the price point, I would expect better service. We had a table for six at 8pm on a Saturday and it took us about 45 minutes before we finally were able to order. Several times we had to ask each other if we'd seen a server.The food was okay around the table. The guys who got steaks were underwhelmed for the price. I had a burger and it was excellent. The sides were really solid. The drinks were stiff and tasty.We all left saying, "eh, probably wouldn't go back. Would rather go to EJ's Place instead."Overall, good but not great for the elevated price point.
Easily one of the best steakhouses in the area, we drive into Evanston from Chicago for their food and cozy atmosphere. Couldn’t recommend more highly.

Worth every penny. Visited on a busy Saturday night, the service was impeccable. Acoustics in the dining room surprisingly good; the place was full yet you could have conversation at your table in normal speaking voice. Order the oysters. A great experience.

The food was absolutely delicious. The best Brussels Sprouts and Steak probably ever! Did I mention the amazing cheesecake for dessert? Drinks are top notch and service and ambiance great for date or special occasion.
I want to give 5 stars here. It's in my home town and it's got great ambience and service. And, when the food is on, it's a 5 star experience for sure. The problem is, the food is not consistent. Last time, it was perfect which surprised me because the time before it wasn't. And this time, it wasn't. Everything leading up to and with the steak entree was great. But the main item, the steak, was both undercooked (closer to rare than medium rare plus) and totally cold (like it sat out after cooking for a while). Though, the flavor was still great with the red wine demi glacé. I'll take an undercooked steak with good flavor but not a cold one. I hate to send back but after two bites, I did, and the waiter was great about it. But, the steak that came back was the same one, now cooked/heated/microwaved more (but still in my range) and very tough. Then, they were out of our dessert choice (with only about 5 to choose from). We got a “complimentary glass” of cava but so did others. When my bill is around $500, I want to be 5 star wowed. I want that here, but I just can't get it consistently.
