Very clean and convenient spot. They serve large meals and for affordable prices. I enjoyed the menu very much and the staff were very amiable and informative. Recommended.

I came here with 3 friends and we had to wait close to 45 minutes for our food to come out. We shared the donut French toast to start and it was pretty good, the donuts seemed home made (which obviously take a while) but the other dishes took way longer than it should've. The eggs Benedict were ok but not the best I've had. The eggs were slightly overcooked and the ham was not very thick, so the pairing had an odd texture. I also thought everything was slightly under-seasoned and when I added just a dash of pepper on top myself, it already enhanced the flavors. The interior has a cozy boozy brunch vibe, but it doesn't seem like an attractive spot for college students. In my 4 years at Northwestern, it was my first time there and I didn't see any other college students inside besides the friends I was with.

Husband and I had dinner here for date night on our way to a party on a Friday night. We had dinner here once before about a year ago and it was good so our expectations were high. Our server was very nice. The wine we had was pretty good too. The brussel sprout flatbread was tasty, but there were only 2 brussel sprouts on the entire dish! If they ran out, they should have pulled the dish instead of serving it without the headliner ingredient. Mussels were pretty good and the sauce was great. The shoestring fries on top were soggy. Mussels frites should have the fries on the side. We also ordered lamb sliders and truffle fries. Took over an hour to come out of the kitchen and that’s after we asked for it twice. The sliders were tasteless and the fries were so soggy and greasy they were inedible. Also, not even a hint of truffles. We were so annoyed we sent it back. We used to like this place, but sadly won’t be back. Date nights are a rarity for us, so I’m particularly disappointed we wasted one here.

My only complaint is that it was very cold..had to keep my jacket on the entire time.was near a window and breeze was coming right thru the glass. I shut the blind to stop the breeze and staff opened it again. They didn't seem to care that we were very cold. Other people had their coats on too, not just our table.

Underwhelming. Let's start with the ambiance: The classic decor and dimmed lighting was strangely matched with a children's Christmas soundtrack. Drinks: fair. But nothing fantastic. Food: as though the volume of flavor had been turned down on almost every item. - There was no flavor of truffle in the truffle fries. But they were okay regular fries. - the lamb burger was strangely charred. -lobster bisque was bland and tasted more like a butter nut squash bisque with lobster thrown in. However, the smoked salmon flatbread was pretty good. If food prices were lower I would give it another shot.

I wanted to like this place when we returned to it but our experience was disappointing. We both ordered a soup course first and the French onion lacked onions and flavor and was mostly bread and the lobster bisque was just ok - iobster stock used rather than lobster shells so flavor weak. Calamari arrived cold and then overcooked. We called it a night. Our server was excellent and very helpful and friendly.

First time at The Cellar. Great service, fast kitchen, and pretty good food. Didn't love the ambiance, but that may be because we were seated close to the door and host stand. Happy hour wine specials were very cheap, but tasted cheap too. They were also out of the one dessert we wanted, but the desserts did look good. Overall, we thought it was good. But they can't seem to decide if they are a tapas place or not. Food is too expensive for small plates, but not large enough for an entree. If this were the only place in town, we'd probably be regulars, but there are many much better (and better priced) places in Evanston, so we likely won't be back.

We are HUGE fans of the Stained Glass - one of the best restaurants around. We found the Cellar to be pretty disappointing. Food was very good. Service was not good. I rated it fair, but I think I am being generous. At least three different people brought out our food, which was not coordinated to brought out at the same time. Our appetizers came out at different times; our entrees were the same way. No one checked on us. I had to get the attention of our server every time we wanted more water or dessert or the check. Exhausting when you're trying to enjoy yourselves at a new restaurant. Sadly, we won't be back.

The empty plates say it all. Great meal and service!

We have been here many times before. I usually dine as a couple. In the past our dinners would not come out together which was very frustrating. We decided to give the Cellar another chance. Everything was perfect. I even mentioned to friends that our meals came out together. Now they will give it another shot. Thanks for stepping things up because your food has always been superb.
