I am so appalled at the experience I just had as west town bakery in Evanston. Now granted I was there for a goodtogo bag which is discounted items that they didn’t sell before the bakery closed. I walked in and was greeted which was great and then it went down from there. There were two brown paper bags at the end of them counter so I thought one was mine. The server asked me about my order, picked one up and then proceeded to walk towards the other end of the counter and take items out of the bag. I was floored and asked him what he was doing. I get that you can’t choose the items or quantities, however, they advertise it was $15 worth of items and he gave me two donuts with sprinkles that I know don’t cost $7.50 a piece because he proceeded to tell me he gave me two items like he was doing me a favor for $5. It was such a bait and switch and so disappointing because I love the west town in downtown Chicago. I could have gone to Dublin donuts which was much closer if I would have known they would only give me two donuts with sprinkles. I couldn’t find a contact us on the website anywhere to share my concerns which is also disappointing. It’s safe to say you live and you learn. Never again west town.

Ya’ll need to staff up. I wanted to like this place a lot because the concept is so great. We were here over an hour and still didn’t get one of our sandwiches by then. In a Saturday morning you need at least 2 people behind the counter be one. At over an hour waiting for one sandwich, honestly it should have been comped.

While I’ve experienced rude service here before, I let it slide because the dispensary in the back was solid. But today was the last straw—I was denied service while standing with my partner because the cashier appeared to be having a mental breakdown. On top of that, the food has always been mediocre at best, and the prices are outrageous. The dispensary is the only redeeming part of this place, and even that isn’t worth dealing with the rest of the mess. 1 star

This place has it all! First is the friendly staff, who made us feel at home. You could tell they really care about service. The options on the menu are vast, showcasing the fact that this is not just a breakfast/coffee spot, but great for lunches and even a relaxed place in the evening, serving cocktails and providing live music/entertainment. Would absolutely recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a cozy place in a busy corridor.
Live music was PHENOMENAL. Jack on Trumpet is so incredibly talented! Food was delicious, service at the dispensary was excellent. A fantastic one stop spot for all your goodies and snack needs.

I come here pretty often and from my experience, everything has been pretty much on-point. Just the right place when I need to get away and clear my mind. Definitely enjoy the iced coffee.
