The staff and service were very nice and personable. This is the first Mexican restaurant we have experienced where there was a charge for chips and salsa. The chips were quite obviously not that recently made with little taste. The salsa was OK. The food was somewhat problematic. One of our orders was returned because it arrived at a cool room temperature when it should've been a hot mole. They replaced it, but at that point it had been over-cooked to a char. We went to Zentli on a Sunday evening. The ambience was welcoming and the waitstaff friendly and helpful. We ordered vegan food which was fresh, delicious and filling. My husband thought the Zentli Salad was excellent. We both had tacos (Nopales, zetas and verduras). We shared the vegan dessert, plantains with a vegan caramel cream sauce, which was quite tasty. We will return , perhaps for a weekend brunch.
Zentli is a great little gem in Evanston. The food was so good we were deeaming about our next visit. The hours are a little tricky, so definitely call ahead to confirm. My friend and I shared the enchiladas en mole and the fish tacos. We were in love with the fish tacos. The enchiladas were better the next day and made a perfect lunch. The atmosphere transports you to another place. Its a little dark inside, you may need to use your phone flashlight to read the menu.
