childhood memories that i now share with MY kids! ❤️
So many options!! We came for a senator reading event. The staff was working their tails off to get to everyone and they did great. Yum!
Northern Illinois' best kept secret. Place is incredible. Great brownie sundae.
Good old fashioned ice cream in a good old fashioned vintage 1950's ice cream diner. I've been coming here since I was a little child and it's always been fantastic. Whether you get a simple cone or one of their amazing sundaes, it's all good! You can't go wrong with the hot fudge. It's out of this world. Although they no longer make the ice cream in house, it comes from an ice cream supplier from the great dairy state of Wisconsin so you know it's good. The staff are friendly and attentive. The vintage diner vibes are authentic. Pull up a seat on one of the shiny chrome stools along the ice cream bar + dig in. It's a real gem of a place.
Favorite place to get ice cream!
Ice creM is a treat not gold. New owners are nuts for these prices. We used to love going to U.D. not now!
Delicious ice cream, pleasant and accommodating staff, and openly of indoor and outdoor seating.
We were driving by on our way home to Chicago. We thought this place was adorable and nostalgic based on the appearance.
Once we went in the vibe totally changed.
Kids working looked like they didn’t want to be there and were just dancing and swearing behind the counter inside the establishment. Killed the vibe right away for me and my wife.
Will probably never be back. Such a shame. It’s such a cool time capsule of an ice cream parlor but that’s quickly sucked out when you enter.
Not a good experience anymore. No food really has hurt them..
Good ice cream, nice atmosphere.

So good !
CedarCrest ice cream & the 50s decor. FUN ! FYI: A single scoup is actually TWO SCOUPS !
A nostalgic throwback with awesome ice cream and great service!
Has food options but if you want icecream, they have too many flavor options you cannot have just one.
For years this has been the go to ice cream place! And although I moved to another state when I get to Freeport and the ice cream mood strikes union dairy is still the go to place!
