My husband and I ate at Preservation a few days before Christmas and what a mistake! On the upside, the food was decent. But, the place is filthy and needs to be scrubbed. My nightmare: I got 2 cold sores from drinking out of the water glass - OMG! They popped out on my lip on my way out the door after lunch. I had to go to the doctor for treatment. I never get cold sores! I should have know better. The place has a musty smell and overall needs a facelift. It was also pretty cold inside; we ate with our coats on.The servers try their best but given the layout it's not easy to navigate. Don't let the Geneva location fool you - pass on Preservation.

Sloppy. When you see multiple people working and nobody acknowledges your table for almost 10 minutes, it becomes disappointing. We got our waters and still wanted to give it a chance considering we heard the French onion soup was good. The entire time we had no idea who our server was. Each one of the workers there came by to ask us the same set of questions so I don’t think there’s much communication between staff in terms of who’s section is who’s. The soup we were recommended was mediocre. The Reuben cut into 4 pieces was basic, kinda skimpy. Outside seating under heat lamps was weird. First and last time probably.

I'm a guy looking for a decent meal and a drink. I come in and the interior is empty of customers, I ask if the kitchen is still open and it is - Great! Ask for seating and I'm offered an external area (because its heated), in the middle of winter... no, I'd like internal seating please. They accommodate. Ask for a menu of the drinks... it's all barcoded, no physical copies of what drinks are available.... told the menu changes often and it's hard to keep up... I ask if there is anything on tap and was told it's all outdoors on the heated area. Okay, I'll go check it out. I was lead out doors by the greeter for the taps... absolutely nothing recognizable. Ask if they have ciders, told it's all in can. I was given a taste of one of my choices and picked randomly amongst the tap. Got a taste, and its IPA/Hop loaded beer. Great... no choices whatever since I can't name any of them. The unknown beer it is. Order a classic Ruben on rye - saurkraut and dressing listed and here I am thinking it's on the side. Nope. Just a Ruben and nothing else, sliced into 4 parts. I have to order a soup just to make it a decent meal. If you are looking to be posh with your date, go ahead and come here... if you want a decent restaurant/bar experience you'd be better off somewhere else. Not for families or first dates (imo).

Great atmosphere, and even better food to share with friends and family.
One of the best patios in downtown Geneva but sadly the food is not good anymore. The service is also not great. If you go, just enjoy a drink outside.

★☆☆☆☆ Extremely Disappointing and Unprofessional Experience
I became seriously ill and was hospitalized after eating the pork belly tacos at Preservation. I called multiple times before finally getting a response from Lawrence, the owner. During our call, he asked me not to report the incident to the health department, assuring me that he would take care of everything and cover my medical bills.
However, after I sent him the medical records and bills as he requested, he stopped responding completely and refused to pay. His lack of honesty and accountability was incredibly disappointing. Because of his failure to follow through, I ultimately had to file a report with the health department myself.
What should have been a simple meal turned into a frightening and stressful ordeal. I would strongly caution others before dining here.
Number one , the sign at the door tells you to walk in back , ok no problem, but number two
a worker is sitting at the bar , counting money and clearly can’t be bothered , She then tells us to sit at the bar , as we wait 10 minutes, the ( said ) worker, plops a caddie on the bar and says you can scan the QR code for the menu ( quote) wow , we will never be back , the restaurant needs to hang it up and I am embarrassed for you!, Respect Geneva and its patrons and leave!

Love the indoor/outdoor dining, or you can eat indoors. Food is sold, like their take on pizza.

We had a great time at Preservation! Iris P. was our server and she was fantastic—attentive, pleasant, and never forgot about us even though we were seated in the corner. The Strawberry Bourbon Buck cocktail was excellent. While we didn’t eat on this visit, we have in the past, and the food is always outstanding—gourmet comfort food done right. Highly recommend the Grilled Sourdough Smoked Turkey Sammie!

Sat in the outdoor patio area, with another party that had a dog. It was a little cool, so the heater was on. The service was excellent, food was delicious.
