We went for restaurant week. Pretty busy and assume this is why server was not as attentive as we'd expected. Food was great and drinks as well! Will definitely return!

Had lunch here last Friday! Was one of the best lunches out in Geneva we have had in a long time! The half sandwich half salad
Combo was amazing!!! Ate every bite!! The French dip was amazing, salad was scrumptious and the homemade chips were perfect! Nice wine list too! Our server was warm and friendly and the atmosphere is absolutely beautiful! Can’t wait to go back next Friday on my day off again!! Cheers to the chef and staff!!!

Lovely restaurant with amazing attentive service. The wait staff made amazing desert recommendations! We shared a burger and lobster roll, it was perfect. We each tried the fries and homemade chips again they were delicious! Our waiter wentvthe extra mile, we mentioned we were sharing our choices so he asked the kitchen to prepare plates with half on each plate, including the fries and chips!
Well done.
In the summer there is an outdoor courtyard but inside the restaurant is lovely.
Highly recommend!

Excellent food with a rotating menu of exquisitely crafted dishes. Wonderful wine selections, and amazing service. This is our favorite restaurant in all of the northwest suburbs! I highly recommend the Sunday brunch, and the weekly specialty Bloody Marys.

An absolutely amazing experience. The best lunch ever. We have always enjoyed dinner but lunch today was one of the best dinning experiences we have ever had. Our server Cathy was just such a fantastic server. Very warm and helpful and attentive just such a great person. The manager also had to help us with a gift card issue and she was also the on top of her customer service game. So friendly so helpful. Just overall an amazing experience! We will be back very very soon!

Update. Since dining here a little over a month ago, was since diagnosed Celiac, and I was afraid I would not be able to enjoy coming here anymore. I went for lunch though and discovered with so much joy, they have a thoughtful Gluten-free menu with so many options! I enjoyed a smooth lobster bisque from the pick two menu, alongside a blue crab grilled cheese on a gluten free bun. I’ll take it! Would be slightly better if it were on actual sliced bread (consider for the future?) but service was great too. I wouldn’t put powdered sugar on sorbet, however. Sorbet is best as a pallet cleanser and left to be tart. My friend also enjoyed her French onion soup and sandwich. Keep up the greatness that is here.

The James in Geneva has become a new favorite of mine this past year. The food is so thoughtful. Their eggplant whip (their take on babaghanoush) has the most amazing toasted crunchy toast to accompany. We also ordered the other bread appetizer that were hot cross buns, so soft and buttery on top….this was prior to me knowing I needed to eat gluten-free. I’m going to beg the James to please make an amazing GF bread option for appetizers and to clearly label the GF options bc I absolutely love this place (it’s possible they do, but I need to check back in to see). We have been bringing our parents and kids along with, and the decor is as good as the food. Interesting wall designs. Haven’t dined outside yet (the metal wire chairs didn’t look as comfortable) but maybe cushions will be offered in the summer. Hats off to the chef, every experience thus far has been appreciated. I’ve had brunch, lunch and dinner.

One of my favorite restaurants in the Western Suburbs. Impeccable service and menu items; you really can’t beat a seasonal menu. Special shout to Rexie and Jimmy for their attention to detail and making every day extra ordinary! ✨

I tried The James for the first time last week and I was so impressed with the excellent service! I stopped in on a whim with my sister and my 2 year old niece for lunch. We were treated so well by everyone including the hostess, waitstaff and the manager which made it a very special meal for us even though it was just a casual weekday lunch. It was my niece’s first “fancy” girls day out and we all had the best time.

The food was fantastic and really reasonably priced considering the size of the portions and the quality. The restaurant is lovely. Can’t wait to go back! Thank you for going above and beyond for your customers :)

I went during lunch time (1pm ish) and got seated at the bar area. The food was delicious and reasonably priced, but what really stood out to me was the decor and atmosphere. Came here without looking at reviews so next time I come I’ll definitely make a reservation because I have to try their dinner menu!

We had a great experience at the James. Andrew was our server and he was phenomenal! One of our friends has celiacs disease and he made sure that evening was taken care of so she didn’t have to worry. The GF menu is huge! And honestly as someone who isn’t GF, the GF blue crab dip and bread was delicious. The crème brûlée is a must try! 10/10 would recommend coming here. The food, the vibes, the drinks, the service - all wonderful!

We had such a wonderful lunch experience at The James in Geneva! The space is absolutely beautiful — thoughtfully designed, cozy, and welcoming. The food was fresh, flavorful, and generously portioned. We ordered from the lunch menu, and the French onion soup in particular was incredible.

What truly stood out, though, was the kindness of the staff. I came with my sister and my 2-year-old daughter (who’s great in restaurants but, of course, still a toddler), and everyone made her feel so welcome and special. It’s rare to feel that level of warmth, and it made the whole experience even more memorable. Every staff member we interacted with was lovely, especially our waiter (I wish I had caught his name — we were there on a Monday afternoon).

I’m already looking forward to going back. Highly recommend!
