Great value for lunch in a Chicago suburb!
Fresh fish, good variety of rolls and appetizers, and fast service. Lunch under $20 is a steal. Favorites: salmon nigiri, spicy tuna roll, and crispy rice. Clean place with friendly staff. Definitely recommend!

Foods great but service is sub par at best. Always seems like they ignore the tables.

When to have dinner with the family, had my all you can eat, and everyone else got their own thing, except my oldest daughter that is not really into this food, I ordered a miso soup to begin, and my daughter asked what it was I told her and advices her to try it to see if she liked it so that I could order her one, (I know all you can eat is for the one person ordering it) so the waitress runs to out table and almost takes the spoon out of my daughters mouth and starts telling us no no no just for you pointing at me, with attitude only you can eat this! She wouldn’t even let me explain what I was doing, I wasn’t going to give my daughter my soup, I just wanted her to try it and if she liked it order one for her, so I proceeded on explaining this to her, she rolled her eyes made fun of me and left, never came back to check on us to see if we needed anything else, I wanted more tea and she was no where to be found, and everyone is just looking at you like hawks watching you eat, it was a horrible experience couldn’t even enjoy my food in peace with all does eyes on me. I know the rules and I follow them! I felt like I was being treated like a food thief, never coming back to this place again!

Great all you can eat sushi joint. Amazing value, but definitely not the works greatest sushi. But a fraction of the cost of where I normally go.

The first interaction had with our server was being scoffed at for ordering water to drink. Then, after rolling her eyes and gesturing to another server that we wanted 2 waters, the server hurried off. Each subsequent visit involved little to no service beyond the bare minimum. I'd be more forgiving if this were some world class venue, but the quality of the food did not defend their dismissive, self-important attitude.

Very tasty sushi and nice price. Good service and friendly waiters. The only thing that bugs me is that the fish is not cold.

First time being in this place, the food it’s below expectations, wasn’t something to go back for. The service were very fast, but the atmosphere of the place that we didn’t like the most all waiters were on top of our head we didn’t feel very comfortable eating or sitting for a long time

Bad management. The "all you can eat" concept is fair all around. The options are fair too. Although my spouse was not partaking in the "all you can eat", she was treated as if she was. She ordered food, did not like it and was refused any compensation. Very disappointed with the mangers' lack of care, for the restaurant and her staff.

Not a sushi restaurant I am used to. Everything was off from what a sushi restaurant should be.

This REALLY BOTHERS me. My family and I order from Hokkai all the time, we have been coming here loyally since they opened years ago. Like we usually do, we put in a rather large order and I came to pick it up. It’s Sunday at 5:30, so I’m not necessarily dressed for success but not scrubbing it… Either the manager or owner was finishing up his cigarette at the front door when I walked up. He walked right past me as I waited and walked straight into the back. You should’ve seen the look I got from the staff when I walked in there. I now understand how they treat Uber Eats drivers and the like because they gave me a look as if I was lower than human. My takeout order…I could clearly read the receipt…set directly in plain sight of my eyes for five minutes while nobody acknowledged my presence within 5 feet of my existence. Wait, correction…they did acknowledge my existence and then never acknowledge me again. It was bizarre. Once I finally opened my mouth to bring my presence to their attention I had to let them know that I am not a food service driver, I’m a long time loyal customer and if this is the way you treat the service people that support your business, I’m not sure I can give you my business anymore. What a shame, because I’ve recommended your sushi to so many.

Solid all you can eat sushi spot in the suburbs. Not a ton of variety but everything we ordered tasted good. One thing is that the website has the incorrect price listed for the all you can eat. It is now 29.99 for dinner 3-9:30pm. Highly recommend the crab Rangoon appetizer and the volcano roll.

I’ve never experienced such blatant discrimination and appalling customer service in my life. Hokkai Sushi is a disgrace to the hospitality industry. From the moment we walked in, the treatment we received was utterly shocking and unacceptable.

It was clear that we were being judged and treated differently based on our ethnicity. The staff were dismissive, rude, and outright racist. Meanwhile, the white customers seated next to us were treated with kindness and respect, receiving attentive service that we were deliberately denied. It was disgusting to witness.

The server blatantly lied to us, saying drinks were included, only to charge us for them later. When we brought this up with the manager, her response was beyond rude. She condescendingly told us we should have known their policy since they’ve been open for 10 years. This is laughable—how would we know that if it was not communicated? Instead of resolving the issue, she refused to take any responsibility and still charged us.

Throughout the meal, we endured stares, dirty looks, and a general sense of hostility. The food was practically thrown at us as if we were unwelcome intruders rather than paying customers. Speaking of the food—don’t bother. The sushi was mediocre at best, definitely not worth the premium prices or the blatant disrespect.

This wasn’t just bad service; this was targeted discrimination. If you value your dignity, money, or taste buds, avoid Hokkai Sushi at all costs. Their behavior is unacceptable, and no one should support a business that thrives on racism and hate.
