“If you’re looking for authentic Jersey/NY style pizza in IL, check out Pie Life it’s the real deal. Not only is the pizza delicious, but the staff is great too! Joe and his staff always make you feel welcome. Highly recommend!”
“My wife and I enjoyed a glass each and then shared a bottle on our anniversary. Staff is amazingly friendly and helpful. Prices are excellent on both their retail (take away business) and to enjoy onsite. They partner with other local shops for some of their food offerings which is fantastic. This was the first of many visits to come.Kid-friendliness: Absolutely family friendly, not much on the menu for kids but sufficient with soda and waters. My daughter loved the soft pretzels as well.”
“Dropped in for some drinks and a bite to eat…Lauren always makes us feel welcome and delivers such great service…between the cocktails (the “walk of shame” is outstanding) and fantastic beer selection along with a menu that you can always find something that hits the spot, Ellyn’s is the place that just delivers in everything you want on a night out.Ellyn’s is always a win.”
“Very accommodating for large groups.Parking: Parking was a bit hard to find since it was so busy downtown.Kid-friendliness: Waiter and owner were friendly, currtious and very accumidating.”
“Most in our group had a wonderful meal...chicken sandwiches, and tuna poke bowl. Also flatbread appetizer and brownie dessert were wonderful. However my quinoa burger was not very good. First of all it fell apart when, after cutting in half, I tried to pick it up. And just not much flavor. Was disappointed in that. Other issue was that most everyone had a taste for pasta, and mac and cheese was the only pasta option.”
“The staff are really friendly. They do have amazing foodTheir was only two time in four years they've ever messed up on my order and even then they always fix it. Good ”
“EDIT: I to make things right, Barones sent a gift card and my wife and I were able to get a pizza at no cost. It was the usual service I get from them and my faith in them is restored.Thank you for making sure that your clientele feel appreciated .I placed an order at 523 pm, I literally just left the pickup area it’s 6:13pm after being told it would be another 30 or 40 minutes since my 1 pizza hasn’t even been in the oven yet. I would expect the workers to try to appease their clientele and offer something but all they said was they’re sorry.Every other time I’ve been here the food and service was good, this time though put a real sour taste in my mouth”
“This is a small family owned restaurant. It reminds me of restaurants I have been to in Italy. I was at the restaurant for a birthday gathering of 11 people. I had the spaghetti carbonara. The pasta's flavor was fabulous! The limoncello cake is light & smooth tasting. My husband doesn't like pasta but, enjoyed a tender and flavorful steak. My 6 yr old grandson can't eat gluten or dairy. He was delighted with their gluten & dairy free pasta with sauce. The waitstaff was attentive to our requests. Fantastic experience that I would highly recommend!Dietary restrictions: They offer gluten free pasta & dairy free sauce.”
“The cocktails were amazing. Would definitely return to try others. Everyone loved their dinner entries as well. So those two things were great but to top it off our server was amazing. An all around great experience. Thanks we will definitely return again!”
“I can't think of a place I would rather dine. I love to be a small part of the student's education. The overall value of experience / cost is over the top. I would highly recommend it. Make your reservations on time.”
“Best cafe au lait I’ve ever had, absolutely delightful. Their food is also delicious, but I come for the coffee experience. Highly recommend. Also, the Rosemary Almond Crackers are amazing!”
“Very friendly people working here. Service is fast. The food is good and authentic. The churros (dessert) are tasty. They are not a sit down restaurant it is pick up and takeout only. Affordable prices and good portions. Overall would recommend.”
“Waitress stands around talking to other employee. You wave at her to come over and she stands and stares at you. You actually had to tell her to come over to table. Never came back to ask how it was. Told her we want nothing else just the bill. Waited and had to ask for bill again. Not impressed.”
“We stumbled across this place one evening and decided to go in due to the welcoming vibe the decor gave off. Outstanding food, and atmosphere. The staff made us feel like we were at home. The bread they give you is TO DIE FOR! Amazing specials as well. Fairly priced. Immediately added this spot on our rotating “favorites” list!”
“This place is truly a hidden gem. We were recommended to check this spot out by a local bartender, and we are so glad we did! The ambiance was really chill and non pretentious. Our mixologist, David, was super personable and well versed in his craft. He’s bringing experience from cocktail programs in the city to the burbs! It was a cute little spot that gave speakeasy vibes. We initially thought we were underdressed, but this place wasn’t booshie at all, and there was no judgement like some places. The cocktails were creative and well balanced. I’m so glad we have a place like this nearby. We will definitely be back soon!Update:We just went back because of our previous experience. I brought a group of 10 (all industry people). We spent over 1k as a group for my friend’s 40th bday. I raved about this place only to feel unwelcome in the end. A young female bartender tells us we were too loud. Honestly, we obviously had a lot to drink, but nobody was being reckless. We were told people were complaining. From a business standpoint you made us feel unwelcome in an establishment where we spent money. Take the $60 2 top who complained over what we spent there tonight? At least pull one of us aside instead of making a grand announcement. Chad you’re a great and talented owner, but train your staff how to talk to people. Just tell us, dont make a scene.”
