Came for dinner on Wednesday night, June 4th looked it up before we came says, it's open place is locked up tight. Must be out of business so sad.
Solid traditional Italian restaurant. We had the artichoke hearts, grilled calamari, caprese pork chop, sausage and peppers and pasta and mushrooms. And a decent bottle of wine for a decent price. A lot quieter than the traditional restaurants these days, which was really nice.
We had dinner before a show at Writer's Theater. The food was delicious and service was excellent. Don't miss the rigatoni with nanna's gravy and the brussel sprouts. Portions are large and we were happy to have leftovers. We got tickets to the next show at Writers Theater as an excuse to meet in Glencoe and have dinner at Merlo's again!
4 of us had dinner on Sunday evening.
We had the Merlos salad and entrees including brick chicken, eggplant parmesan, linguine diavolo & grilled Calamari.
Everything was delicious with large portions and excellent service.
Everyone should try Merlo's for a fantastic dining experience.
We will definitely be back very soon
A nice simple Italian restaurant. Homemade ravioli with ricotta was excellent. Salmon was good but came with a strange collage of veggies including large peppers. Set photo. Would be much better with a pasta side or potatoes. Not a fan of the Merlo’s salad. Kind of a garbage salad but dressing was not good. Service was excellent. Not crowded on a Tuesday night but the tables are packed in so it would be quite loud if full.
Served fast and absolutely delicious
Great good, staff was nice, would recommend
Meh. The Merlo's salad was tasteless, and the bolognese was not authentic at all. My husband did like his arrabiata. But there is much, much better Italian food in the area. Service was good.
First time at the restaurant and happy with the experience. With a focus on Italian dishes, people should find plentiful options. Main dishes were all flavorful (chicken, veal, pasta) and appetizers looked appealing (ordered by others at the table). Dessert dish Tiramisu was especially good. Service was very good, almost too good as plates were being removed before everyone was finished. As with most restaurants, noise levels can make conversation difficult, but we were fine. Looking forward to another meal at Merlo's.
Caprice Salad was presented very beautifully, but the tomatoes tasted like hot house tomatoes. Pasta sauce was very acidic and my chicken parmigiana was tough. Service was slow and yet there were many empty tables inside.

I think we were there on an off night. Service was slow and somewhat inattentive. Dirty plates had to be asked to be cleared. The quality of the food was uneven. The salmon entrees as overcooked. We were given a menu with the previous week's specials. It was very noisy as the restaurant filled up. We had much better experiences on previous visits.
Had a very nice experience. Everyone liked their dishes: Skirt Steak Velasco Chicken Cutlets Giardiniera (Special) Nana's Gravy Short Rib Pappardelle (Special) Appetizers: Shrimp Bruschetta (Special), Grilled Calamari Will go back again.
Food was not tasty. Brussel sprouts starter too salty and veal Milanese was sour from too much lemon. They comped the veal which was nice but overall taste of food was not great and the atmosphere too loud.
Food was good and ambience was very nice. Service was awful. Sat for 30 minutes before we got water. Brought cocktails and wine but the wineglasses were burning hot! When asked for another glass the waiter said it was the only glass available ?! No bread service prior to dinner.
