Very decent quality and very delicious

I love their egg rolls. They remind me of Kow Kow that was in Lincolnwood and close about a decade ago. Food is consistent "old school" Chinese food. I always get the Pepper Tomato Beef. Very convenient local food.

Go to for take out Chinese. Best we’ve found in all of Glencoe, Northbrook, Glenview and Highland Park. Family owned, so happy to support them. Call early on the weekend!

The food was delicious. It was just not clear about their menu; there were none at the restaurant so there were discrepancies between what I saw online and what I was told I could order. While waiting 12 year olds came in and out with ice cream bars and I couldn't see where they got them from. Glencoe is bizarre.

The food was very bland, had no flavor. The pot stickers were doughy and soft (even after I asked for well done).

Wow, the reviews do not match our experience. We really wanted the KungBao Chicken - and ordered it. Unfortunately, it was as tasteless as anything I have probably ever eaten in my entire life. It was exactly the same as the other chicken dish we ordered - chicken with Broccoli. Even a little self administered red pepper flake couldn't wake up the dish. I searched in vain for the typical red pepper pods - and nothing. If possible, the steamed pot stickers were worse. The outer dumpling was so thick it could have been an empanada. In fairness, the tiny amount of pork filling was well flavored. We had never tried Shanghai Garden in our 25 years on the north shore and we hope to never return.

Food is delicious and quick. Hard to find good Chinese on the North Shore. Love fried rice, egg foo young, egg rolls...Cheers!

This was my first time in Glencoe to watch a show at Writer’s Theater, and I stopped by this place for a meal before the show. It seems to be the only Chinese restaurant in the entire town and also one of the few places both open at night and relatively affordable. My friend and I ordered the Walnut Shrimp Special and Sauteed Green Beans. We were told it would take 30 minutes, so we sat inside to wait, and the food came out right on time and piping hot. You can’t dine in the restaurant though, as they don’t have a dining license.9 times out of 10, Chinese takeout will always hit for me, and Shanghai Garden was no exception. The green beans were flavorful and well-sauteed. The walnut shrimp had a nice crispy texture, tangy taste, and also came with broccoli and crispy noodle pieces. The portions are large for the price and they also included a large box of rice with our order. For just $15 per person, we had a good amount of leftovers. Overall great value, tasty food, generous portions, friendly service— I would love to return if I’m in the area again!—Price (relative to peers): 4.5/5Food: 4.5/5Ambience: N/AService: 5/5Overall Value: 4.5/5

So my neighbors raved about this place. I won't be taking on their suggestion however as much as I love them LOL. From all the reviews I was forewarned about the inordinate amount of time from order to pickup. I didn't experience that but got the food pretty quickly made. Pros: fried tempura shrimp were good, crispy and flavorful. But then again, how do u F up fried food. Beef with broccoli was tasty and had lots of fresh, and not over cooked veggies. Kudos to this.Cons: pot stickers were gummy and had too much dough. Filling was meh.Chicken fried rice was unappealing and not enough veggies. Not one bean sprout in site.I so wanted to patronize this establishment as the lady at the counter was hussling to get all the pickup orders and she was friendly enough. Unfortunately I still need to keep searching. One reviewer said there's no such thing as good Chinese food on the North Shore. I think he's right!
