Sushi were amazing. Great wine paring. Blu Don is a very great combination.

First time for me and I was pleasantly surprised. Wasn't expecting this quality of sushi in the burbs! Will definitely go back when in the area.

I can see this place is very popular, it was absolutely packed. It’s not for us however. As the name would suggest, it’s a sushi place, but the sushi wasn’t right. The sashimi was too thick, the rice for the rolls didn’t quite work. When we would ask the server to remove our plates that were essentially untouched, he never asked if there was anything wrong, and we didn’t bother complaining. The tempura udon soup was perfect however, it’s a standard to inspire to for the restaurant. We won’t return to be honest. But objectively the ambiance is great, and the servers do try hard to ensure you have a good experience. They do seem understaffed and somewhat overwhelmed however.

I honestly don’t understand why this place has such good reviews. It’s not really authentic Japanese—it feels more like an American-style fusion Asian spot that happens to serve sushi rolls. The focus seems to be more on heavy mayo-based sauces than the actual quality of the fish. Some dishes even feel like they’re influenced by Korean flavors.
Prices are a bit on the higher side, but the quality of the fish isn’t impressive, so I don’t see a reason to come here if you’re looking for true Japanese sushi. One thing that also stood out was the chef at the sushi bar—he kept walking around with AirPods in, which felt unprofessional to me, though maybe that’s just the new normal for younger generations.

Too expensive for the quality and taste!

I had three different rolls, and they taste somewhat the same. It’s not worth $16-17 for 5 pieces. Although it’s not bad, it’s not great at all.

And the toro sashimi which very thin is $13 for one piece?! The toro itself wasn’t very soft and smooth - felt like there was fish bone.

Udon was not bad but definitely not worth $18.

The atmosphere is good but it’s not authentic Japanese.

Gin was our server and he was AMAZING. Food was also 10/10. Didn’t realize we went to the farther of the locations from us but will definitely make the trip to come to this location again cause of Gin!

I ordered takeout and was very satisfied with the fish and sushi quality. The presentation was visually appealing and the taste hit just right. Both my girlfriend and I enjoyed the suhi rolls. They have some nice signature rolls as well as the classics. Get the rolls with Serrano if you want some heat!

Sushi here is some of the best I've ever had. I learned early on that the best sushi is made with seasoned rice (mirin) and they do it right here. Make sure you try the Cancun roll and the crispy rice spicy tuna appetizer.

Not the same as it was a few years back. I don’t live in Illinois anymore and was visiting the area for work. Was super excited to come back and was really disappointed in the lack of quality and service. To start, the tuna crispy rice was so overcooked, I thought it was going to crack my teeth. The jalapeño popper filling was so overcooked that the tuna inside had the texture of dry chicken. The sushi rolls were only slightly redeeming, as they were definitely below expectations based upon previous visits. Everything took an extraordinary amount of time to arrive to the table and the server was not very attentive and was unable to speak audibly despite the noisy environment, making it extremely difficult to hear. Sadly will not be returning.
