I have such fond memories of dining here. The burger was as delicious as always! The onion brick was awful. It was brought out cool and it was bland and not crispy at all. Our food took unusually long— our server apologized said there was a large party in the back. Our server disappeared after bringing our food ... eventually another staff member checked in on us. Kind of a bummer experience on Saturday late afternoon! Next time hopefully it will be better.
This place is a dump. People only go here because of the nostalgia. It's dirty, chipped paint and gross carpet, it needs more than a facelift. The food used to be passable, not anymore. The onion loaf tasted like old grease (which was the overwhelming odor of the entire place). The Rueben was ok but barely grilled. The waitress was good but that was it. I can't believe they're still open.

Food was great, as always. Room was way too cramped and bagpipe music was way too loud. It was difficult to visit. Also, the only vegetarian option for one of my friends was something that looked a lot like Kraft Macaroni and Cheese... SERIOUSLY?!! You can and should do better, Hackney's! Another friend and I enjoyed our corned beef and cabbage but you need more options.
We went on st Patrick's day weekend and made a reservation which was great because we didn't have to wait. They had festive decor and bagpipers - all wonderful. Food and service outstanding as usual!

We went for St. Patrick's Day to eat and see Jim Sullivan and the Sullivan Brothers. The food and music were good, but we were seated behind a large post and were unable to see the band. It was so crowded the servers were overwhelmed and service was slow. I didn't mind the service too much, understandable for the holiday; but I did not like sitting behind a post. One reason we came was to enjoy the music, which includes seeing the musicians.

Hackneys is an old time favorite but it has not kept up with the times. The burger was average at best. The salad greens were brown. The seats in The booths are falling apart. We won't be returning.

Hackneys remains a great value with best burgers around. I'm sad that the blue cheese burger, a burger filled and topped with blue cheese is no longer served. Miss the cinnamon toast crunch cocktail, too. Also we were seared 30 minutes past our 6:30 pm reservation on Saturday. Once seated, service was slow.

Saturday night at Hackney's is always busy but we were seated promptly at our reservation time. Our waitress was wonderful despite the crowded room. The food was delicious. Can't beat that onion loaf and the burgers are the best.

Terrible service and cold food!!! should not take 45 minutes to get a burger and veggie burger. was seated at 5:20 so they were not busy. Waitress ignored us the whole time and manager was no use either ! We had a problem their months ago , they forgot our order , and the kid at the front desk just laughed when we walked out. Thought we would give it another try , but will never go back and will get the message out to people not to Go!

I've been going to Hackney's for close to 60 years and other than the wallpaper, the place is just as I remembered. The onion loaf ... still amazing. The beer was cold and the burgers were perfect. Highly recommend local classic watering hole.
I remember Hackney's fondly from my childhood. Nothing has changed, which is not a good thing. None of the food had any seasoning. The famed fried onions were disappointing. The only vegetarian option was a sad black bean burger. French fries again lacked seasoning. Chicken fingers were nearly inedible. The only saving grace was excellent service. Would not return.

The service was abysmal. We waited a long time to be served, although other servers passed by. Our food eventually arrived and it was lukewarm. Our server, though pleasant, was rarely seen and we had to call for him to get our bill. We dine in restaurants several times a week. We are accustomed to much better service and food at the appropriate temperature. We were greatly disappointed.

We all had Hackney Burgers. Which were good. Our Server, Johnny, was great!!! Energetic, personable, just an all around good person. We have been going to Hackney's on Lake for a long time, just don't get out as much as we used to (my husband and I turn 79 this year).

I hadn't been to Hackneys in several years. On our Sunday afternoon visit the room was very crowded and noisy despite other rooms with no customers.. Apparently short staffed. The over all vibe of the restaurant was worn and tired.

This was our first time back at the Lake St location in many years, We frequent the Harms Rd spot in the summer. The room was very comfortable and Peggy was absolutely great as our server.
