We went for Friday fish fry and they didn’t disappoint with all you can eat and light breading on the beer batter.
Excellent Clam chowder as well with a Reuben sandwich to go for lunch the next day. Also excellent service as well
Plus great atmosphere will definitely be back.

Waited forever for food that never came to table people next to us on both sides were served even though they arrived after us they left with a check and we still haven't gotten our food it was

Grandpa's checks all the boxes for a great bar/restaurant. 1st they pour a perfect Half and Half, it's a work of art to float Guinness on top. 2nd the outdoor deck is always ready for those unexpected warm days from late fall to early spring. Plus they can open up other outdoor seating areas if they get busy. 3rd Inside they have a classic wooden bar and a cozy fireplace area with comfy couches and board games. 4th Trains trains trains ... Metra, Amtrak, freight ... just sit and enjoy. 5th love the chili, Rueben, fish & chips, daily specials ... reliably tasty food. 6th Staff is super friendly. 7th check the website for live music, especially Irish tunes. 8th during summer, take kids to park on west side of tracks and get a cone. 9th plenty of parking 10th did I mention their great Half and Half?

I took my kids here on a Wednesday evening and it was great! Not crowded, friendly service, and kid friendly. The food was good and good drinks. The kids were happy to watch a ball game on the tv and the "living room" area was fun! Can't wait to come here in the summer to sit on the patio.

Familiar with this place for over 35 yrs and a Glenview resident. Will only come their with spouse or when I intend to pick up entire check. Several times 6 or 8 of our friends suggested Grandpas but when I told them they will not give separate checks in this day and age of computers, we all decided on going somewhere else. This policy is antiquated and unnecessary as was told to us by other restaurants. Nobody likes playing the "how much do I owe" game.

This year I chose Grandpa’s place to host my company holiday outing- lets just say I got a big bonus! Kidding aside, it was the perfect space to celebrate! Our wishes for set up and decoration were accommodated! Festive lights were in place and a fantastic music selection set the perfect tone. The Chicken kabobs were a huge hit, amongst other restaurant staples, the Reuben, Burgers, and salads! Our Server/ Bartender Bill was very attentive, gave perfect suggestions and made our party feel special. We are already thinking of reasons to return- i think we found our place! Much thanks to the Grandpa’s staff♥️
Went to dinner last night. I have been to Grandpas many times and always enjoyed my visit. Normally, I would give this place 4 stars. Yesterday, I had the Thai Chicken salad and found a long hair in my meal. I couldn't eat anymore. I told our waiter and not even an apology or some sort of meal compensation. I would have accepted a free drink. In case you are questioning if it could be my hair, I have extremely short hair. I do hope the cooks are wearing hairnets. I was disappointed last night.

Great place to spend some time before getting on the train (no food available on most).Excellent service here!!! Waitperson (Beth) was friendly and very attentive and efficient. Good pub food, but disappointed in the chili - a few extra cans of drained beans in the pot and less liquid would have been appreciated. Prices were very reasonable. Look forward to visiting again!
