$25 per person!! Did t even stay.. there no buffet but they advertise as a buffet... NOT WORTH IT...
Genuinely not sure how this place is rated so high. Came in with no one in sight, sat for 10 minutes before another few people came in. 10 more minutes of us all sitting. Place was not at all busy. We had to go seek someone out to ask if they were still serving. Got told 10 minutes. 10 minutes later someone finally comes and says 10 more minutes. Definitely shouldāve left by then. When we got seated the server seemed not to care, and vacated tables all around werenāt cleared, and stayed that way during the duration of our stay. The food was comparable to grocery store sushi, maybe worse. Tried to eat most of it as they have a charge fee if you donāt eat it all, but by the end I started gagging and had to give up and pay the fee.

We arrived on a Tuesday toward the end of lunch service to a sign that said āplease wait to be seatedā. We waited 10 minutes and not one staff member acknowledged us in that time, until a second group went to go find a staff member after waiting for 10 minutes themselves. We were told it would be a 10 minute wait and were sat 20 minutes later (the other two left during this time).
Another couple was leaving and was asked how the food was and, with a less than enthusiastic shrug, they told us āit was okay if you just want classic rollsā.
More than half the restaurant was vacant tables and we would have been more forgiving if we were told they were short staffed.
When we were finally seated, we were given a table with no plates, no chopsticks, and no cups. After 5 minutes, we were given water and then left alone for 10 minutes. Our seaweed salad around at that time and we were left alone again for 20 minutes while the water cups were drank and left empty.
After our plates arrived, it became evident something was wrong. 3 rolls arrived with cream cheese that was the same temperature and consistency as if it had only just been taken out of the fridge (even in the fried roll). The cream cheese was entirely overwhelming and made 3 of the rolls bordering on inedible. As for the non-cream cheese rolls, they were okay, at best. The nigiri was okay, the classic rolls (spicy salmon and tuna) were on par with grocery store quality.
When all was said and done, this was not the worst sushi Iāve ever had in my life, but it was the worst sushi restaurant experience Iāve had. Our server had a headphone in the entire time, would disappear without checking in for 10 minutes at a time, and our first bite of food came almost an hour after working through the door.

They hired me, let me work for a day, and then let me go. I had to ask for the money they owed me for the single day. Small establishment. Mediocre food, sushi equivalent to Jewel Osco, crab rangoons equivalent to Panda Express. 4/10. If you want sushi, go somewhere else. It'll be cheaper.

There were so many mosquitoes š¦ in the restaurant!
The lunch buffet was average, but the servers were extremely rude. If I didnāt finish all my food, they threatened to charge a $2 penalty, even though this rule was not written anywhere. In the end, I forced myself to eat everything just to avoid the penalty.

We have a typical sushi restaurant that we go to up in Gurnee but last night we decided to try somewhere new which was Umai Sushi. What a pleasant surprise! The place is big, they have a really cool circular bar when you first walk in, and a self serve salad and miso soup bar. Not to mention the cocktails are AWESOME! The absolute best part though was the sushi boat for 2 we got was incredible! The sashimi pieces were thick and the salmon was so buttery and melted in your mouth. The nigiri pieces were massive! I highly recommend coming here, you wonāt be disappointed!
