“This is a really special place and so needed in this area. We were instantly hooked after the first visit a week ago and couldn't wait to return today. We've had about 5 different menu items and have loved the taste and freshness. Plus the staff is incredibly kind!”
“Absolutely wonderful!!! It was 10:30 on Thursday place was packed like it was Sunday after church. Tonya our waitress was on point. We had 4 people so we split up on 2 tables. The pancakes awesome! The biscuits and gravy best ever. I could have eaten just gravy. It was that good!!”
“Wanted to take a picture before the food was gone! EXTRA tasty, mama came out to check on us and we had too much food in our mouths to tell her how delicious it truly was! The sauces for the chicken are worth the trip on their own, pair them with the delicious sides??? Oh yeah. We'll be back VERY soon!”
“They sell the absolute best al pastor and asada tacos I've ever had! If I could rate them higher than 5 stars, I would. Their tortillas are soft with just a tiny bit of crispiness at the edges. The meat to tortilla ratio is top tier. The flavor of the meat when you add just a tiny bit of salsa and lime is wonderful. I love this place!”
“Whitney St is a traditional diner, and the food is good and service good. What my family especially appreciates is the Sunday buffet. Great for the kids and great for larger groups.Kid-friendliness: Such an easy place to eat with the kiddos.”
“Best Mexican/Texas place I’ve been to. The food is so amazing and has so much flavor to it. Service was great the lady explained the whole menu to me and what I should get. Some of the best queso birria tacos I’ve ever had and the green and red sauce they have is ELITE. Not only is the food phenomenal but they have the best prices and HUGE portions. That house sampler Friday special is $15 (meant for 3 people) and I could barely get through half of it and I don’t play with food I can eat, like a lot! Also I had the Texas Twinkie which was like a jalepeno popper with brisket and cream cheese wrapped in bacon and oh my Lord that HITT THE SPOT. It is a jalepeno so only get if you like spicy. Definitely better than Los comales and el famous burrito this place has a special spot in my heart. 100000/10 must recommend and definitely try the queso birria tacos, house sampler, and Texas twinkie. I promise anyone reading this I have not been paid to write this review nor did they even ask me and this is the first review I’ve written for anything but I had to because this place is BOMBBBB??? the photo is to show the gargantuan size of their chicken wings I could only finish two after eating a queso birria taco and Texas twinkie and some of Texas nachos. The wings are legit like 1.5 pounds each probably got like 60 grams of protein after eating only two lol!! The house sampler could easily feed two grown adult men. Thank you Texas Bebe for the great experience! -Casimir model”
“This is such a wonderful find! The service was amazing, kind, helpful. I purchased a donut, mini raspberry coconut cake and latte. If you need a gf anything this is your place.”
“Loving coming to get food from here, it's like coming to see my family. The food always hits the spot. Everything is always fresh and made to order. They're so loving and welcoming ?”
“Colleen is super friendly. Thus is a nice bar with extra seating. Thete is one pool table! Dart board. Video gaming with 6 popular gaming. The food is unbelievable very good. Eat at the bar! Highly recommended.Parking: Best parking a lot of room.”
“Fantastic steaks. We got 2 added NY Strips as well as 2 added Ribeyes and one Filet. They were simply amazing. The difference between these and anything you can get at a grocery store is insane. 100% never getting meat anywhere else. Also new owner is a wonderful guy.”
“Best BBQ in Lake County, Illinois! I moved out of the area 5 years ago and when we come back a few times a year we always come here for our BBQ fix!! Give this place a try you won't be disappointed!!”
“A great burger spot with a real nostalgic feel. My son and I ordered two burgers and two shakes and we were both more than content with the meal.I had the Mac Attack, and while it was good I probably wouldn't order it again. I've had the Diablo burger here before and I thought that one was better. We had the Oreo Explosion and Cookies and Cream milkshakes. They were both excellent. I'd recommend this spot to anyone visiting.Parking: Street parking but the location wasn't too busy around 1 P.M.”
“I'm definitely a fan of this place. There's cornhole (or as I like to call it), plenty of pool tables, and delicious food! The only downside is that you have to be 21 to enter. However, the music here really sets the mood. Renting a table and pool for 2 hours cost us around $30, but it's still worth it for a fun time with friends or for a date.”
“Owner is sooo awesome n friendly. I hadn't been there in months n he remembered my named n took time to talk to myself n friend Jeff. Food was beyond awesome! This is place to go if u want a great beef sandwich w the cheese n sweet peppers! Very delicious ?!”
“After growing up within the Latino community, eating authentic Mexican dishes, and learning how to cook within that community, I'm pretty particular about the Mexican food establishments I give my hard-earned cash to, because I know what good Mexican food is and it is often not what you get...Cinco Hermanos gets my money happily! As such, I often have certain requests that may not be on a menu, but I know are doable, based on my knowledge of Mexican cuisine. Not only do they happily receive my request during my phone order, the request is always executed correctly and to my liking. My husband doesn't like certain things in his burrito, and when ordering from other places, those things were either in there, or replaced with other "fillers." He orders the same exact thing every time, so he has often been disappointed...and his requests are easy like no lettuce and no rice inside the burrito...no biggie, right? The first time we ordered the way my hubby likes his burrito, from Cinco Hermanos, not only did they get the order right, they added some extra meat in the burrito as the "filler." That's customer service and attention to detail right there!I love that their tacos ARE NOT GREASY!! We love tacos al pastor, but they are often bathing in grease, which is actually just laziness on the cook's part...I know, because I make them at home, often. I usually don't like to order carryout tacos as a result, because they arrive home soggy and greasy...NOT the experience I've had at Cinco Hermanos! The tortillas rarely have any extra grease on them and the meat is the same. Any tacos I've ever ordered from them arrive home intact, non-soggy, and as delicious as if they were just prepared in my own kitchen!I also really enjoy their green salsa...it tastes like homemade. You can tell that they used fresh ingredients and that it was made in smaller batches. It's hard to explain, but trust me when I say it is one of the best green salsas I've ever had, including some homemade authentic versions. It's a little warmer than most, so be prepared for that, but it is crave-able!If you're looking for a stellar caldo de res, this is the place! Not only did it taste like the thousands of caldo's I've enjoyed in Mexican kitchens over my lifetime, it was served the way you'd be served in said kitchen...plenty of meat and veggies in that delicious broth! My typical experience ordering caldo to-go, is a container with a lot of broth, one or two small pieces of meat, one small carrot, more cabbage than anything, and half a potato...not even enough meat to make a decent taco to eat with the broth. I ordered this one weekend I was sick, and let me tell you, it hit ALL the right spots! Rich broth with an abundance of meat and veggies...exactly the way it would be served in my home kitchen. I was floored when I opened the container and saw it, and then more pleasantly surprised when I tasted it...perfection! Just know that it's only available on weekends and totally worth the wait! Oh, and one of my requests, LOTS of limes, was absolutely fulfilled, happily. Hats off to this place for great customer service!I've not had one thing on the menu that has displeased me, nor has my husband. Not one.Not only is the food delicious, the service is impeccable. I have certain requests when I order carryout, not excessive by any means, just certain things we prefer, like only green salsa and no plastic utensils necessary. At other places we've ordered, 8 out of 10 times, there's a bunch of red salsa in the bag - along with the green - and a bunch of plastic forks that end up in our garbage can. EVERY SINGLE TIME we order from Cinco Hermanos, the instructions are followed to a T, which tells me that they're good business people and not throwing their money in our garbage can. As a business person, I find that smart, admirable, and a likely indicator of how they run their business on every level. Here's a good "tell" if a Mexican restaurant ”
