Grew up in Illinois, moved to NYC, back in the area for the weekend and stumbled in. Accross the board, everything is exceptional. Food, service, atmosphere are all brilliant.

Fogón Mestizo is a new Mexican restaurant near Barrington rd. and just off Irving Park rd. It is a hidden gem. The food, service, and atmosphere are all brilliant. The menu features authentic Mexican food, including handmade tortillas, chicken mole, skirt steak, salmon, carne asada, and Chilaquiles. The Chilaquiles are beautifully presented with verde sauce, steak, a sunny-side-up egg, and fresh avocado. The Mango Margarita is so good, and a cold margarita makes for a nice meal. Chips and beans are a nice touch, and coffee is perfect with the curros. The staff is wonderful and the bartenders provide excellent service. Everything is delicious, authentic, and full of flavor.
