This was supposed to be different. I have been wanting to go to Hazel's for years. The place had a Christmas vibe going. People were having a good time. We were excited to be there. Looking forward to it and then.....what a disappointment! We got seated, the waitress was fine at this time. She tells us there might be a wait for coffee...okay, fine. She brings the drinks. No straws. No stirrers for coffee. Okay, fine again....vibe still there. We place our order. Grinch walks around serving food. It's going well. We wait. People were still rolling in. And we wait and wait and wait for our food...49 minutes. Mind you, people got their food and they were seated after us. The food is missing items and they tell us they still owe us items from our order. Meanwhile, the same thing we are missing is being sent out to other customers. We tell the waitress and she has no idea what's going on. It was bad. She did not even notice if we got our food or didn't. She was not very attentive. You can say she was busy, but so was everyone else and they got their food at the right time. It was a bad experience for my family. We paid and tipped appropriately but I have a feeling I will never be back.
Hazel’s Diner Tarot and High Tea April 2024 My daughter and I attended “Tarot and High Tea” at Hazel’s Diner and enjoyed THE BEST tasting food of any High Tea we’ve ever been to. All of the finger sandwiches are on their homemade breads. We especially enjoyed the roast beef, and the turkey. From the sweet things on the tea tower our mutual favorite was the lemon custard filled croissant. There were plenty of flavored tea selections for every palate. And what a fun addition to have a tarot card reading! We love High Tea and have been to: The Palm Court at both The Drake in Chicago and The Plaza in NYC, The Tea Room at Harrod’s in London, Tea at 1024 in Honolulu, HI, and High Tea at The Baker House in Lake Geneva. The tea tower of food at Hazel’s High Tea beats all of them with their fresh, homemade food. You can taste the love and care that goes into every morsel. We will be back again and again!
I heard about Hazel’s Diner from a Facebook page where someone was talking about where to get cinnamon rolls, and there were numerous recommendations for Hazel’s which intrigued my interest, we went there this morning for a late breakfast to get food that is scratch made and when I say food, I’m humongous plate, size pancakes, and incredible cinnamon roll French toast. The potatoes, sausage, bacon, and House made bread of many varieties are huge portions, there was not one bite that wasn’t delicious the entire feast we kept saying oh my God! The service staff is super friendly and attentive, even close quarters, which actually felt cozy. if you’re looking for real food made by hand, this is the place. When you want one of those breakfasts, you know is going to be full of buttery creamy and warm to your insides food. This is the place if you are counting calories you may not want to come here! But sometimes you just need to put that aside and enjoy every bite as we did today.
We hosted 2, back to back, events with Deb Mindham of Hazels/Tarts and Truffles and she was amazing to work with! We booked with her a year before the wedding weekend from the East Coast and she spent much time with us on numerous phone calls, planning the events. The buffet dinner was delicious with an abundance of food. The appetizer/dessert spread for our additional event was fabulous! Her team of servers were very professional and serviced both of our events in an incredibly attentive way. Our events were perfectly taken care of. Highly recommend

Recommended from a friend. Friendly staff. Food was delicious. Portions were huge and the price was right. Definitely going back.
We used Tarts & Truffles for our small wedding cake and cupcakes for our guests. We absolutely love Hazel's food, but ended up disappointed with our overall experience with the bakery side of things. We were able to have a couple of tastings in order to try multiple flavors, which we were very gracious for. The taste and moist levels varied each time we tried a flavor, including on our wedding day. The communication was difficult and left me stressed. There were times I had to reach out multiple times in order to get a response, leaving me very frustrated. Our cake looked very nice, but tasted a bit dry. The cupcakes we had for our guests were baked in cups, making it difficult for them to eat. Had we known this was the case, we would have been able to provide spoons for our guests. I would not recommend choosing Tarts & Truffles for your wedding due to the lack of consistency of the baked goods, communication, and difficulty eating the cupcakes.
Realy good food, good service. Overall very good place!!
If I could give a rating higher than five stars, I so would!!! Celebrated my 50th birthday last Sunday and had catered food brought in from Tarts and Truffles (Hazel's Diner) to our private party aboard Polaris Sunset Cruise Gage boat tour. The food was absolutely scrumptious and just perfect! We chose the Slider buffet, tortellini pasta salad, fresh tossed green salad, fresh fruit, kettle chips and cookie dessert bars. The four different sliders offered were each out of this world delicious!!! Especially with the homemade rolls like my mom used to make!! The dressings and condiments were also bang on!!! The kids and adults alike devoured the chocolate chip bar squares that were thicker than any I'd seen!!
