I treated a friend to lunch for her birthday recently, and I must say, I was rather disappointed, especially at the price point. First, I expect my salad to be served before the main and not together. Also, the presentation was lackluster at best, but the food was good (not exquisite or magnificent). Also, I ordered creme broulée for desert and was served pudding with a window pane of sugar on top. I had to crush through the sugar to get to the creme. The sugar should a dusting, which is then caramelized with a kitchen torch and not a pane of sugar glass. The desert was to be served with berries, and I received 1 strawberry cut into extremely small pieces and 7 blue berries, which is highway robbery for $10. Needless to say, I felt fleeced ($109- before gratuity- for two lunch entrees, two deserts, and water to drink). Never again!

Had a wonderful lunch! I got the apricot chicken over rice with the summer corn chowder. For dessert I had the peach bread pudding and it was the best bread pudding I've ever had! Service was great! Will definitely be back!

After living in Southern Illinois for 17 years my wife finally talked me into taking her to Mary's and I now regret not going sooner. I'm a frugal guy, so shelling out $250 for dinner for two isn't something I do often, but the amazing food and service make it worthy of a monthly trip. Our first time there they had Chilean sea bass, which was excellent. The jalapeno scallop appetizer was perhaps the best I've ever had and the lobster bisque was to die for. The second visit I ordered the coffee marinated filet and it was delicious. They also make amazing frozen margaritas. I can't wait to go back again next month.

We have driven by Mary’s Restaurant so many times and assumed it was a just lovely historic private home. We ordered the wagyu strip, it was best steak we’ve ever had (and we have tried Wagyu other places). We also ordered Beef tenderloin with cognac cream sauce, the seafood bisque, old fashion’s, seasonal pumpkin swirl cheese cake…Everything was fantastic and cooked perfectly. So happy with the experience. Would recommend for a romantic dinner, and would leave the kids at home. Our server Nick took great care of us, we will be back soon to try lunch. Thank you!

Mary’s in Herrin has become a go-to spot for my family and I over the years, especially for special occasions, and it never disappoints. We recently chose it for a much-needed dinner date night, and it turned into a truly memorable evening. The food is consistently delicious, and the atmosphere adds to the experience, making every visit feel special. Whether it's a celebration or a quiet dinner, Mary’s always delivers in both taste and service. We can’t recommend it enough!

It’s just amazing. They’re so kind. The food is perfect. It’s very quaint. Absolutely tremendous service. I feel they are under priced for what they get. Of course we are in the southern Illinois. But this is absolutely tremendous and I have started and owned multiple restaurants. I am a pretty significant critic., nothing but the best here

Prices are so insane that you too, can go into debt. I took one look at the menu and ran for my life. I'm not gonna pay $60 for a 6oz steak and some crab cakes. That's enough to eat at a all you can eat buffet 3 times at least . That's just crazy. Anyone who spends that much money on one meal is the exact problem with this country. All there reviews were unhappy. It's enough to just make me sick.

This is run by the owner chef and his wife. Incredible attention to local ingredients when they’re in season. Those things that are brought in, such as fresh fish, are incredibly well sourced. What a treat.

We celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary at Mary’s last night. The food and service were both impeccable. The night was made even more special with the attention to detail given to the special occasion. Our table had beautiful fresh flowers along with a kind handwritten note. We were presented with a photo as well. Thank you so much for the beautiful evening. We will be back!

I was expecting extraordinary service. The waiter came to our table and asked if there was anything else besides the water we wanted. He never introduced himself. We ordered cocktails. My husband ordered an old-fashioned it was served in a wine glass. It should have been in a rocks glass. The server was not attentive or even acted like he wanted to be there. We sat with empty drinks several times. The food was good, at best, for the pricing. We were celebrating my daughter receiving her BSN. He never inquired what brought us in. 480.00 including the tip. We were disappointed.
