Pancakes near Highland Park, IL

“Came here off of a whim, we just got our marriage license and wanted to find a place to grab a bite on our way home. Picked this place as it had 4.6 Stars, and we can see why.

The cappuccinos were delicious (they are classic, so no added sweeteners). Added 2 spoons of sugar and they were perfect. As seen, no matter how many times we take a drink. It still keeps its foam head.

My lady got the continental. She enjoyed it. I got the eggs Benedict and I can’t see Hollandaise sauce the same again. As no hollandaise tasted as velvety as this one. The pancakes, which we both got with our meal, were as fluffy as a pillow, and as full of air as Aerogel. Great transporters of syrup.

All though my portions could be considered small for my Benedict by most American restaurant standards. It made up for it in taste.

“Last place I know of that still makes everything from scratch. You can totally taste the difference. I have never eaten hash browns that are this “potato” fresh- not ever. And if you choose the “fresh fruit” option, it seems like they literally just sliced it up before they put it on your plate. I have never gotten fruit here that is dehydrated on the edges like you get at a lot of restaurants where you can tell it’s been sitting “cut up” for a long time waiting to be plopped on a plate. I know that’s considered normal prep work for most kitchens but i’m convinced this place must slice at the moment before they serve it because it’s still juicy you can just tell it’s just been cut.“

“An old favorite. Excellent breakfast great coffee good service all of the things that make it the standard that it is. The only downside is everybody knows about it so the lines are typically pretty long. If you come during peak time it might be a good 30 to 40 minutes before you get seated and the parking lot might be full. It is also very kid friendly so expect it to be loud and sometimes with crying children.“

“Wow. Get the ham and crab jian bing. It is outstanding. All the textures in one bite. Tender, crunchy, chewy, warm. Total mouthful. The veg is fresh, not droopy. It's made to order and ready fast. If you have to eat and go, they even give you a disposable glove. Fantastic.“
